imho again,
i dun think they must learn t be smeone else.. being a dancer yes they need vers and yea they need the attitude for that dance, but at the end of the day there must be an Identity that shines through in all their dances no matter malay contemp ke hip hop or jazz. Idenntity is the important one. And choreography do plays a big role.. lets say they would dance para para sakura (no offense to para para lovers).. It not the IN thing now and nobody would even care to vote.. Dance is all about movements in the choreography..

A boring choreograph dance will not make a dancer shines out as at the end of the day , the audience or the judge will compare against those e.g malay contempt with more action , hip hop etc to give marks . I do agree the dancer have to blend in with passion and feelings but that will not be enough to impress or excite the audience

waterlily: we do think alike don't we? i love your 'Mata' videoclip comparison. ROTFL
marvelous: so much knowledge about dance industry. thanks for sharing it here mate.
ninjaturtle: you can't show off your dance skill in all types of dance bro. never in my life seen backflips done in Pasa Doble, or mambo-and-cha-cha-cha in Hip Hop. sometimes, you gotta be versatile and put your best effort in learning new things. it aint easy but gotta try.
starcc: eh, can i belanja you makan or not? for once somebody out there really sees what i see and gave honest unbiased opinion in here. overated. i love that word.
touachthesky: it's true. the dancers gotta learn how to fit into the dancestyles and not the other way round. however i do think that choreography plays a vital role in ensuring a satisfying and a good quality performance. choreography is not an easy job. i hope our choreographers can give more in the next episode.
tcw: well said. i agree with you lah.

My opinion is Firul should of been in the bottom 4 as he didn't shine in 2 weeks! regardless about the weirdness of choreography or not. Dancers need to step it up! They need to dive in to the music.
Ok i'm a fan of Choreographers who can tell a story and translate music to movement, not just booty shaking or stunts etc, I kinda agree to starccs, about that the ppl didn't performed it well as i was watching the dance it needed much more from the dancers, but i liked yannus's choreography because it went with the song and it translated to the words and the rhythm/beats. Not Great?. Overated, lacking ha ha ha (no)....... what's a definition of a great dance choreography to that type of slow song on last show?! Most of the Dancers didn't do it well to even simple steps, i saw the choreographers work on the past 2 shows, the ballroom was good, contemp was so..so..la,malay contemp was good, and street jazz good too, and only azwa and yannus as choreographers that is doing slow and fast song! and showing different chorey, they're adjusting their choreography and the couples they had to the song that's given! i like to see any choreographers that given ghetto music then usher then mary j, which totally different feel of songs, to come out with different style interpretating the music like yannus did, that's what i admire about him,he tried to tell a story thru movements, and also other choreographers that not just giving steps or stunts to all diff music! isn't choreography is translating the music/rhythm to body movement?? That's my understanding and my believe, i respect creativity and talents in choreographers. I saw it as i watched it and listen to the song! it sent that msg to me. Bad choreographers is someone who just doing steps/stunts to a song and it doesn't fit in any of it.

i agree about Firul's poor performance in two consecutive weeks. i thought he was going to be in Bottom 4 in Episode 5, but it was Vish and Shake instead. there was no improvement from Firul in Episode 6, but i would say that Alam and Dennis did not pull it through either. but among three, i would've picked Alam and Dennis for lack of tech in their physical executions.
i'm with marvelous on the chory part, i.e. chory is like telling a story. it's a basic thing. slow music, fast-paced tracks, whatever it is, it's still boils down to the essence of a dance piece - the ability of a choregraphy to tell a story. that's why i already put in my previous posts, stunts are not necessary in every dancestyles. it's not a compulsory factor to wow the crowd.
still i think (answering to this topic), choregraphy plays an important role in this show. i can't help but noticed that some of the chory are so-so, as if melepaskan batuk ditangga only.
help the dancers grow with giving good choreographies to them. do not let them be a victim of situation (e.g. Sean).
my two cents.

I totally agree with mungojerry with his statement : help the dancers grow with giving good choreography to them , do not let them be a victim of situation (e.g. Sean )
Reason being is we would like to watch a more stiff competition and the strong ones compete against the strong one and not the weak one competing with the strong one
There are others who are weaker than Sean
