Galaxy Loses Appeal Against Suki Low (4/1/13)
GALAXY MUSIC APPEAL DISMISSED BY COURT. SUKI WINS AGAIN!
News Release: Infi8 Dreams
After winning her court case against her former management company Galaxy Music Sdn. Bhd. in August last year, reality show winner Low Sook Yee, or more popularly known as Suki Low thought she could breathe a sigh of relief and continue with her life but the recently married star was summoned to the Court of Appeal after Galaxy Music filed an appeal to reverse the decision made by the High Court last year. However Suki once again came out victorious on Tuesday, 29th January 2013 after the court dismissed Galaxy Music’s appeal. This reinforced the decision made by the High Court last year causing Galaxy Music having to pay Suki another RM20, 000 for the whole ordeal.
In her case last year, Suki sought the High Court's intervention to grant amongst others for the Artiste Management Agreement signed with Galaxy Music Sdn Bhd be terminated and an order for the immediate refund of her sum of RM367,575.17 which was paid to the artiste management company after they claimed that they would be able to produce, record, promote, market, distribute and make available sales of an international Chinese language album for her in territories like Taiwan, China and Hong Kong but failed to do so. The sum of money was obtained from her prize money after winning a reality TV series called One In A Million in 2006.
Despite a High Court judgement requiring them to pay Suki damages, Galaxy Music refused to do so. Due to this, Suki has proceeded to obtain a court order to haul Galaxy Music’s directors to court to be examined as to Galaxy Music’s ability to pay her the judgement sum due. This process is still on-going and the company’s directors Chan Tak Wai and Wong Yoke May are now required to attend court for this pending issue on 6th and 7th February 2013 at the High Court of Malaya, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.
Suki who was represented by law, firm Raj, Ong & Yudistra said that she really is relieved and hopes that all this will finally be over as the matter has been going on for too long. Suki is now concentrating on her latest album which will be released very soon.
