HarithMai's Faizal & Lisza, Royale Chulan's Farah & Lokman Aslam
The Heritage Club & Cigar Lounge at The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur has always been synonymous with top local and international acts since its inception in 2008, and will continue with that tradition with the launch of its inaugural "One Night Only" showcases, which is a collaborative effort with event planners HarithMai Productions, for the upcoming months of February & March. Both showcases will take place on the second Friday of the month, and will feature Jatt, the original lead singer of the iconic Black Dog Bone on 8th February 2013, and upcoming soulster and former reality talent show star Lokman Aslam, on 8th March 2013.
Jatt who has been in the music industry for forty years, is expected to whisk his fans back to the classic 70's with his collection of memorable hits such as Khayalan, Gadis Ayu, Hatiku Luka Lagi among others, which will be nothing less than an all out rocking pants on fire show in February. Exchanging that blazing heat with some romantic sizzle the following month will be bountiful newcomer Lokman Aslam with more original renditions as well as soulful scorchers from Michael Buble. David Bruback, John Legend and the like, while adding his contemporary twist to their standards.
According to Farah Halim, the public relations manager of The Royale Chulan, "The Heritage Club's objective for 2013 is to provide a platform for all local artistes to perform to an intimate audience in an up close and personal manner, right here in the city." This was shared to the members of the media at a launch press conference held at the popular entertainment destination earlier this month. The four year old outlet has had a track record of ardent followers of their local resident bands and has also enjoyed the talents of such luminary acts such as The Alleycats, D'Llyod and even Bob Tutupoly (who is famed for the evergreen hit Widuri) on its stage. Farah also indicated that should the showcases prove favourable, The Heritage Club will continue with it every month thereafter, and may also consider to do it on a weekly basis. Producer Muhammad Faizal from HarithMai Productions added that he hopes to be able to bring more great acts from the seventies till current, to The Heritage Club, throughout the year. On his choice of artistes for the showcases, he felt that newcomer Lokman had the characteristics of turning into a superstar, while Jatt was celebrating his fortieth year in the business, and both presented totally different streams of music.
Attending media members were also treated to a teaser performance from Lokman Aslam, who was once a top seven finalist on season one of 8TV's reality talent show One In A Million, and was previously signed to Free Nature Records. Due to pressing reasons Jatt could not make the press conference.
Lokman Aslam takes on the crooner's repertoire at The Heritage Club.
Answering questions from the media regarding his prospects, bright eyed Lokman felt that it was a good time for the Malaysian music industry, with stars such as Yuna and Zee Avi making much headway globally. Appearing stylish at the press conference, Lokman also revealed that he had an album in progress. The young star explained that he already had four tracks previously arranged by award winning composer-producer Audi Mok, and these tracks may be rearranged for his yet untitled upcoming album which is expected to contain at least seven tracks. His multi genre showcase is expected to feature his own numbers, and may include numbers from Sheila Majid and Yuna, as well as international acts. His own songs include Anugerah Cinta and Namun Kau Tahu, which has had airplay before. The promising 26 year old who has been in the industry for around six years has had his fair share of up and downs, including the loss of his father, which led him a little astray for a while, but thanks to support from the people in the industry, including friends like popular singer Atilia and and his current manager Faizal, he has grown considerably and is confident about his upcoming major solo showcase. Lokman has also performed at luminary Kuala Lumpur jazz clubs such as Nerofico and No Black Tie over the last few years from time to time, and has also kept busy at private shows.
Both scheduled "One Night Only" showcases will start at 9.00pm with doors opening at 7.00pm. The price of admission will just be RM50 nett inclusive of a first drink. Music lovers who need more information about the upcoming showcases or who wish to make reservations may contact The Heritage Club & Cigar Lounge at +603 26889688.
