AJL winners enjoying their moment in front of the cameras.
With a bright red coffee mug in hand, and a digitised Parisian street for a background, last minute fill in Aizat Amdan, casually strolled a rearranged Yuna's "Terukir Di Bintang" to a victory at the 27th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) awards final, at the Stadium Putra in Bukit Jalil last night. With just 56 hours to the final, singer songwriter Aizat who answered AJL nominee Yunalis Zarai's urgent request to replace her at the finals, managed to adapt and do justice to the song, at the near capacity venue that had a host of other strong contenders vying for the top prize for song of the year. Original singer and songwriter Yuna who was unfortunately unable to make the finals due to work commitments in the United States, had initially seeked the help of veteran balladeer Uji Rashid, but had to make a change after initial rehearsals found that Uji may not be the best fit for the chirpy lullaby like number. For her (and Aizat's) efforts, she won herself RM35,000 in cash and a prized AJL trophy. Coming in second was Azlan & The Typewriter who won RM15,000 for "Idola", a song which was composed by Audi Mok with lyrics from Azlan. Hafiz's "Ku Akui" which was written by seasoned songwriter Ajai, took third for a win of RM12,000. The song also garnered Hafiz, an award of RM10,000 for best vocals, while the best performance of the night went to Black & RJ for the Malique penned "Teman Pengganti" who walked away with RM10,000 as well.
