Do you think that the judges are actually giving constructive criticism to the contestants?
In my opinion, the judges, whether guest or Syafinaz herself, has not been giving good comments to the contestants.
Some may argue that Syafinaz has graduated in Music.
My take on this is, though Syaf has a Degree in Music, she may not be all a good singer, what more a judge to be giving out comments to blooming singers?
Comments in the show should be constructive, and not just a mere applaud saying how good he/she is, or vice versa. Should the judge be really qualified to give comments, he/she will be precise in giving out what went wrong where, how he/she can improve, what can be done, etc.
The fact that Syaf and most of the guest judges, more often than not, giving out very shallow comments, and trying to please every contestant, or totally the opposite, just sends signals that
1. They ( the judges ) are just not honest and genuine in giving out comments.
2. They fear that by the knowledge they impart on them, the contestants be more successful than the judges?
Recently, there has been a trend of fresh young singers taking their places as judges. New singers, undoubtedly, brings in more viewers to the show. However, the question here is, are they really qualified to criticize the contestants singing?
My own personal opinion is to allow veteran singers , producers , songwriters and composers to take place as judges, simply because they are experienced, they know the need and the want and the quality of the music that is required, and they understand the concept of a song better than anybody else, hence providing a proper explanation as to what went wrong, and how to correct it. That is what is essential in a competition like this, to build a strong foundation for these contestants before they take the plunge on their own.
If you have an opinion similar or on the contrast, please feel free to continue this thread, we will debate it. No answers are right or wrong, everyones viewpoint is appreciated.
