SalamMusik ft Ziondread - Aku Pelat (Single Review)
SALAMMUSIK FT ZIONDREAD - AKU PELAT

There is always something magical about Salammusik's reggae fused tunes that always wants to make you get up and dance along, and their latest release Aku Pelat is no different. In fact it will make you get up on your feet even quicker than ever with its bouncy raw edge beat that is reminiscent of old skool Jamaican tunes of yesteryear without losing its freshly minted nusantara feel. This could easily have been playing in sound systems in the heart of reggaeland and had the rudeboys and rudegirls of yesteryear dancing along regardless of the language of discourse. Good job to producers DJ Fuzz and Salam for cranking out another excellent single that retains a traditional flavour but without sounding dated. And people are still wondering, how outsiders Salammusik's debut won Album Of The Year at the recent Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) awards. Aku Pelat is composed by DJ Fuzz, with storytelling lyrics by JayTan, Eyza Bahra, Ziondread & Salam. It is instantaneously melodic and the educational message is clear as day and easily be appreciated by the disgruntled youth of today. We won't tell you the message of Aku Pelat, thats for you to decipher and discover.
The soulful yet edgy female vocals belong to Eyza Bahra, who sounds like a more intense version of Mawar Berduri of Ahli Fikir fame, who gives the track a sexy feel, while authentic rasta propagator Ziondread from Curacao goes the other way, nailing it hard with his roughhouse rattling. The production is top notch despite being recorded, mixed and mastered locally, which goes to show there is some real backroom talent here in this country which need to be appreciated, nurtured and supported completely. A quality single that should be on everyone's playlist, so do download this track, legally that is, and enjoy. All SalamMusik need now is some real serious airplay to help them along. Listen up deejays!! Do this country a favour and play some good music for a change.
