If you have been on the search for a branded ultra thin 7" Android tablet at truly affordable prices, your prayers have been answered. The spanking new arc designed All Winner powered Hyundai A7HD IPS tablet was launched at the Go Mobile Expo 2012 which was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, last Friday, 11th May 2012, by Koperasi Pegawai Pegawai Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (KOPDBKL) Bhd who are the Master Key Dealers for mobile internet devices from Korea's Hyundai M.I.D. The soft launch was officiated by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) Bhd's CEO Datuk Badlisham Ghazali in the presence of KOPDBKL's Chief Operating Oficer, Zainuddin Hj Ahmad & Hyundai M.I.D.'s local principal Kathiressan at the Hyundai M.I.D./KOPDBKL's booth at the yearly mobile communications, services and applications expo.
The sleek new device which comes in a magnesium aluminium alloy body, combines a speedy A1X 1.5 GHz manycore SOC (system on chip) that incorporates both a Cortex A8 CPU and a Mali-400 GPU, with a radiant 16.7 million colours, 1024 X 600 pixel high definition 5 points multi touch capacitive IPS screen that has an 180 degree visible angle and can support up to 2160p playback through its built in HDMI port. It also comes with 1GB DDR memory, 8GB of NAND Flash ROM, a micro SD slot, and sports Android's latest Ice Cream Sandwich 4.03 operating system. Although it is a Wi Fi only device, it is able to support 3G broadband modems from most local telcos through its built in micro USB port. At 8.9mm thick and weighing in at 270g, the China assembled device is currently hailed as the the slimmest and lightest tablet in the market, and retails for just RM799 with 2 years warranty thrown in. Battery life for the sexy new device is rated at a reasonable 5 to 8 hours of continuous usage.
According to Zainuddin, the A7HD will be the first of the many exciting new devices from Hyundai M.I.D. that will be marketed through KOPDBKL and its nationwide network. Also seen at their booth was the budget priced 7" Cortex A5 based A7ART tablet, 3G based A73G tablet and the 9.7" 1024 x 768 pixel S900 3G tablet. The S900 3G is priced at RM1299, the A73G at RM999 and the A7ART at just RM699. Accompanying the string of tablets is Hyundai's new 5" A53G smartphone. The featured 3G devices may come bundled with a sim card from mobile network Clixster once available. KOPDBKL are also the distributors of this new low cost mobile service which is expected to be launched later this month.
Based on our first looks, the supremely built A7HD comes pre installed with a range of Android apps that includes Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, MSN, Android Market, Skype, Google Mail, Google Maps, Quick Office and iReader among many others, and looks set to make a significant impact in the mid sized tablet segment with its high specifications and attractive price.
The ultra thin Hyundai A7HDs are so cool, we want them for ourselves.
Even the exhibitors can't get enough of the Hyundai S900 3G 10" tablet.
