INTERNATIONAL GAMING CONCERT RETURNS TO KUALA LUMPUR

The Malaysian video gaming community is in for a treat once again as prominent video game music composer Tommy Tallarico is bringing his revolutionary video game concert event to Malaysia once again for the second time. The Video Games Live (VGL) 2012 concert will be staged at Istana Budaya from 26th to 27th May 2012 and is presented locally by ZI Production Sdn Bhd and GEM Impact Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Istana Budaya under Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Malaysian Band Association and CosPlay-Fun Malaysia.
All this was revealed to the members of the media at a press conference held at Istana Budaya, yesterday afternoon. The event saw the attendance of ZI Productions' Chairman Datuk Zulkifli Ishak and CEO Wan Ahmad, IBKL's Director General Dato' Mohamed Juhari Shaarani, Malaysian Band Association's President Professor Zaharul Laliddin Saidon, VGL Composer & GEM Impact President Mr Norihiko Hibino and CosPlay-Fun Malaysia's Allen Yap.
Considered the largest video game concert in the world during its debut, and the first ever concert to celebrate music from the biggest video games of all times from ‘Super Mario’ to ‘Final Fantasy’, VGL is set to thrill both the gaming communities as well as the music communities and make its mark once again in Kuala Lumpur since its first visit at the KL Convention Centre, back in 2010. Its initial concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with the LA Philharmonic in 2005, saw a massive turnout of 11,000, and it has continued to rake in the crowds to its sold out concerts throughout the world. Created by two industry leading video game composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, VGL is the front runner in the field of live game music performance.
The immersive Video Games Live concert in Kuala Lumpur is expected to bring the intensity and excitement of the gaming world’s most powerful compositions to the spectacular stage of Istana Budaya, through the world class musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra while combining exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussionists and groundbreaking interactive segments to create an explosive multimedia entertainment experience like no other for the fans. With music from the retro days of ‘Pong’ to the fast paced action of ‘Halo’, VGL will transport you into the heart of the gaming world.
A host of special events fringing the show include a pre-show festival where all guests will enjoy an interactive costume contest, game competitions, game demos, and the highly anticipated meet-and-greet sessions with top game composers and designers.
As a teaser to some of these fun activities, CosPlay-Fun Malaysia (CPFM) showcased some of video games favourite characters through its Cosplay team, with CPFM's Allen Yap himself turning up as Captain America.
Other special segments including a live interactive Space Invaders game and a Frogger competition, that involves the audience, will take place during the show. New music and exclusive video has been added to the already spectacular line-up of games which includes MARIO™, ZELDA®, HALO®, METAL GEAR SOLID®, WARCRAFT®, MYST®, FINAL FANTASY®, and KINGDOM HEARTS. The evening will also present a "Classic Arcade Medley" featuring music from Pong, Donkey Kong, Dragon’s Lair, Tetris, Frogger, Gauntlet, Space Invaders and Outrun, which will be conducted by Video Games Live creator, Tommy Tallarico himself, with the members of the National Symphonic Orchestra.
