Whitesnake Live In Malaysia @ Bkt Jalil (30/10/11)
KUALA LUMPUR BITTEN BY A POTENT WHITESNAKE
Story & Photos: Dragon
David Coverdale all poised to strike.
Whitesnake founding member David Coverdale slithered into Kuala Lumpur with a twenty first century line up that had their fangs out right from the start, and injected a potent dose of their venom on Malaysian fans, at their live concert at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight. And the fans were certainly not disappointed, as the newer additions wrapped them into a stranglehold with their energy, intensity and musical mastery as they unleashed song after song from a catalogue that stretches close to four decades from over eleven studio albums.
With only two Whitesnake albums to their credit, guitar gods Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, joined newer additions, Michael Devin on bass and Brian "God of Thunder" Tichy on drums, both who are credited on the latest album Forevermore, as well as latest addition Brian Ruedy on keys, to deliver a musical masterclass that backed the fiery vocals of lifer David Coverdale, with a feisty presentation that kept the ageless music of Whitesnake as real as it was for the diehards and as relevant as it could be for a newer generation of fans.
The concert which was organised by experienced concert promoters JS Concert Production saw close to 8,000 fans turning up to catch the iconic rock band, and especially the 60 year old Whitesnake (and also former Deep Purple) vocalist David Coverdale, which American cable television network VH1 considers the best rock singer in history, in action. Opening for the legendary stars was local rock queen, Ella, who warmed up the appreciative crowd with a slinky and energetic four song performance that included her hits Layar Impian and Dua Insan Bercinta.
