"Who needs a surfboard when we can fly across the waves?"
They may be serious punk rock pioneers in their native land, but Superman Is Dead's warm and lighthearted surfer dude carefree personas easily shines through their edgy attitude heavy exteriors. After all, the jovial three man band made up of vocalist Bobby Kool, bassist Eka Rock and drummer JRX, do hail from Asia's surfers paradise, being born and bred in Kuta, Bali. Their approachable and open demeanor, easily made everyone attending their exclusive fan meet and greet session , last night, which was organised by popular conceptual lifestyle store and cafe Switchblade KL, completely at ease and extremely enthused at what the youthful lads had to share about their musical journey.
With a name like Superman Is Dead, one would have expected a dark and insidious trio, but what we got was a band that was all fired up and very much alive, kicking and raring to go, and with seven albums under their belt, and another on the way, they are certainly far from being dead.
The authentic Indonesian punksters, who have over 2.6 million Facebook fans, arrived here in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday morning, for their very first Malaysian gig, which will be held later today, at Ovo Bistro in Damansara Uptown. The five hour music event organised by gig promoters Art Entertainment, scheduled from 3pm today, will also feature several local underground acts, ahead of Superman Is Dead, who are expected to present at least fifteen tracks, during their hour long set.
Full story and complete pics coming up.
