The ladies (and some men), who were among the invited guests, who attended last night's Conan The Barbarian movie premiere. certainly had it great. Not only were they about to watch Baywatch's babe magnet Jason Momoa flex his body on the big screen as Conan, they were also treated to a slew of well defined local Conans as well, who were vying for the Conan Manhunt contest, which was organised by Cine Ads & Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), in conjunction with the premiere and also Cine Ads 20th Anniversary celebrations, at GSC Signature @ The Gardens.
The event which was emceed by Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 finalist, Sarah Yap, saw 22 year old fitness instructor and Mr Selangor runner up Nash Roshan bagging the grand prize of RM500, an iPad 2 and a Canon Ixus Digital Camera, over 6 other strong contenders, that included Mr KL 2009 winner, Ubaidillah @ Nasri Abd Latif, after receiving the most "gold stars" from the audience. Ubaidillah meanwhile took the second prize, while a less buffed up, 40 year old MMU lecturer, Joel Laffita Rivera charmed his way to snatch first prize. They both won cash and prizes worth RM1199 & RM2299, respectively. All seven finalists had to parade their well toned bodies down the catwalk while brandishing and posing with a replica Conan sword, in order to impress the audience, made up of GSC/Cine Ads business partners, VIP guests and members of the media. The ladies were certainly impressed with the lovely eye candy that was presented before them as they jostled to stick paper stars on their favourites, as the male guests looked on in envy.
The guests were not left out either, as they also got to win prizes that included cinema tickets, Garmin GPS', Canon & Nikon cameras, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and six iPad 2s, in a lucky draw held at the cocktail event presented to launch the new movie
Of course the real prize of attending the premiere, was the chance to be among the first to catch Conan The Barbarian, which opens nationwide today in both 2D and 3D. The action packed Marcus Nispel directed movie which is a 2011 reboot of the 1982, Arnold Schwarzenegger helmed movie, also features Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan in leading roles. Laden with special effects, it was shot mostly in Bulgaria at the cost of USD90 Million, and stays more faithful to the relentless, gory violence found in originator Robert E. Howard's books.
