Nadhira's Album Launch @ Laundry Bar (28/7/11)
THE TWELVE SHADES OF NADHIRA
Story & Photos: Dragon & Anastasia
If you ever come across diminutive singer songwriter Nadhira Nishaa, you will never suspect that this low key 26 year old was once the lead growler in a local Gothic metal band called Amethyst. In fact, the classically trained pianist (from London's Royal Academy of Music, no less) has been in seven rock bands in total, four in Indonesia where she also studied and three right here in Malaysia. Quite a contrast considering her latest musical adventure finds her belting out her own self penned commercial urban pop tunes on "12 Shades", her sophomore album, which was officially launched at Laundry Bar in Mutiara Damansara, last night.
The event which was witnessed by her fans, friends, family and members of the media saw the pretty lass showcasing three songs from her diverse twelve track release, which was mostly produced, mixed and mastered by Indonesian rapper turned producer Wisnu "Wizzow" Prastowo, with the exception of "Tear Us Apart", which was produced and mixed by Australian producer Tom Diesel. "Tear Us Apart" which is co written by Nadhira and her duet partner, upcoming Australian singer songwriter Tom E. Jones, made its national debut on Hitz.FM as the first single from the, album, which will be available physically at Rock Records stores nationwide as well as digitally. Also featured on the very personal album which took close to six months to complete are, Canadian rapper Vandal on "Closer", and Indonesia's reggae ambassador Ras Muhamad on "Kinda Gyal".
