E=MC2 (Total 1st week sales of 463,000 since release on 15th April 08 and the #1 album in the USA!)
Mariah Carey
(Pop/Dance/R&B/Hip Hop)
Album Review (Brian Alberto)
Rating: 4/5
A smart title choice for an album emancipated from her last effort The Emancipation of Mimi, which garnered her 3 more Grammies for Best Contemporary Album, Best R&B Vocal Performance (We Belong Together) and Best R&B Song (We Belong Together) in addition to 2 earlier wins in 1991 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Female Vocal performance.
E=MC2 is Mariah's 11th studio effort, collaborating with music's finest composers and producers namely LA. Reid (executive),
Bryan-Michael Cox, Danja, DJ Toomp, Jermaine Dupri, James Poyser, Swizz Beatz, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Scott Storch and Stargate. The album consists of 14 tracks (which 2 bonus tracks are only released in the Japanese released, Heat produced by Will i am and 4Real4Real by Mariah herself). It produced Mariah's 18th #1 Singles (Surpassing Elvis 17th # 1 and only 2 more to surpass the Beatle with 20 #1 Singles).
01.Migrate (Featuring T-Pain) : -
(M.Carey,N.Hills,B.Muhammad,T-Pain)
An upbeat party track showing off more on Mariah's flawless vocals. An interesting dancefloor track and will be a sure hit for Mariah.
02.Touch My Body : -
(M/Carey,C.Stewart,T.Nash,C.Johnson)
Mariah's 18th #1 Single! A fun song and this effort shows a different side of Mariah, a more happy and fun side of hers.A great song especially promoting Mariah's new found diet plan that kept her looking her best!
03.Cruise Control (Featuring Damian Marley) :-
(M.Carey,J.Dupri,M.Seal,C.Johnson,D.Marley)
Damian Marley is the youngest son of Bob Marley, last collaborated on the song 'Now that you got it' with Gwen Stefani in 2007.A reggae effort which Mariah tried during her Glitter years on the song 'Don't Stop (Funkin' for Jamaica)'.This time around Mariah did put in an effort to sing in Reggae style and I must praise her for her well done effort. This song seems to grow on me and reminds me a bit of a song from her last effort 'Shake It Off'.
04.I Stay In Love :-
(M.Carey,B.Cox,A.Shopshire,K.Dean)
Mariah is known for her ballad's and this is one of my personal favourite.A killer ballad and it projects Mariah's vocal to the fullest!Song about a person hanging on and keeping on hopes and in doing whetever she could to save the relationship that has turn sour.A sure hit for Mariah soon!
05.Side Effects featuring Young Jeezy):-
(M.Carey,S.Storch,C.Johnson,J.Jenkins)
A song very personal to Mariah describing her relationship with her ex-husband Tommy Mottola.Anyone being in a controlled relationship could relate to this.
06.I'm That Chick :-
(M.Carey,M.S.Eriksen,T.E.Hermansen,J.Austin,R.Temperton)
A retro dance feel on this song. Another sure hit for Mariah.

The song title describes it all.
08.I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time :-

2nd single from E=MC2. A touching ballad about lost loved ones (Just like she did for One Sweet Day with Boyz to Men during her Daydream era). The beat reminds a lot of We Belong Together.A sure 19th #1 hit for Mariah!
14.I Wish You Well :-
(M.Carey,J.Poyser,M.Tatum)
Mariah is known for ending all her albums with a gospel or motivating songs.A continuation of her last effort 'Fly Like a Bird'.
