well I think if it really isn't Paul Moss then these ppl are even more dense than suspected because for me, to let a competitor off like that relaxing the rules and such is just pulling and begging for some smart aleck to bring in the question of legal issues and such....then again since I've put that out, maybe I'm the smart aleck that left her brains some where along my mom's birth canal...LOL!

Dressing: Hellooo...you've all got it [glow=red,2,300]terbalik[/glow]! 8TV din force the others to wear sponsored clothes...in the first weeks we allowed the contestants to have final say in their dressing...and THAT was when all the criticism was levelled at them. In the last 2 weeks( i think) they have been more forcibly styled and the results have been much much better...look at Lokman in the first weeks compared to later weeks. Any of them can bring personal items to wear..but experience has shown that they hv little knowledge as to what will work on as a performer on TV....If Dayang can bring more to the table because of her experience or wardrobe..so be it..it contributes to an assesment of her current abilities or status. Oh My the words "Terbalik" is being used by our Judge here... Of course if they r being styled by the stylist of course there will be no comment...if there is still comment it will be the stylist that we shud blame... as if they themselves style up on their on sure ppl wil comment coz they have no experience in styling for performance they can only style themselves to go "Shopping at 1 Utama...

Guys, whether Paul or not or even Ahmad Izham, the CEO himself replying to this thread, it doesnt matter.
Some damages have been done and definately also created some displeased forumers.
Probably the organiser and their partners need to go back to their drawing board and do some damage control or SWOT ASAP b4 more damages emerged. This is necessary for the good of OIAM in the future. Or will there be one? hmmm

All this talk about fairness... C'mon. It's a reality show - 8TV's reality show; it's their business how they want to format it. Just like it's IBM's business where they wanna base their new office or Ah Kau's business if he wants to use MYOB etc.
We are not in show business - never produced reality singing show before - how are we to know what works and what doesn't and why some things are done the way they are because ultimately we are all viewers on the outside looking in at whatever's on the surface. Life is not clear cut black and white so let's not try to pin it down that way. "This is this, so that should be that..."
We talk about fairness over contestant treatment. For all we know, maybe there were 2 sets of entries; for ordinary folks must quit their jobs for recording artistes allowed to continue with their contracts ie jobs, resulting in someone like Dayang allowed to comply with manager/ label's gigs so that she doesn't break her contract. In other language; it's like 2 sets of entries for university students, one direct from SPM, one for mature students then crying foul why the mature student know more (how to dress) supposedly 'unfair' to the wide-eyed innocent direct entry students or this or that. (ok I'm almost veering off topic with that scenario)
And all these talk about fairness and level playing field. Really... to say that the other contestants 'sacrifice' their job or time etc to make time for the road shows is a bit bS. Why? Because they know if they don't come to the road shows, they lose their one and only chance to promote themselves outside. They WANT to come to the shows and sing. It's not sacrifice, it's need. You think those who haven't made a name for themselves have anywhere else to go perform if not for OIAM, the road shows? The promos elevate the contestants to a higher level of popularity but it prolly has the opps effect on Dayang; pulling her down. And to pull someone down is more like the Tall Poppy syndrome, which coincidentally also arise from ppl needing everyone to be the same. (not accusing anyone)
The GIST of this competition is about contestants performing on Friday and getting judge's comments and viewers' votes. Not like AF where the competition depends on how they act outside of the stage. So why drag in promo activities, which doesn't count on how well a contestant perform, into the competition?
If it's STILL really a big deal to you, then like Paul said, just vote her out. The mechanics have been put into place, use it. If you think it's not fair to sponsors or the fans let them worry about it. If sponsors are mad, they'll take action. If the fans are dissapointed enough, they'll not vote her at all. No need to speak on behalf of their grievance coz we don't know how others feel or react to it.

This post is no longer about double standards any more. This one is about Dayang. She is treating this competition with no respect as apparently she can do whatever she pleases.
Imagine after all the hoo haa about her skipping OIAM promo activities to indulge herself with her own agenda under the pretext of them being scheduled earlier, she still has the cheek NOT to show up for an important rehersal at SP2 yesterday. Apparently, we understand, quite a few people inside were not amused at this "tidak apa" attitude. Obviously OIAM is not important to her at all.
I also found out that she skipped 7 out of 9 OIAM promotional engagements to do her own thing. That means she did only 2 stints with the OIAM guys throughout this program. She is taking this show for granted, and surprisingly 8TV continues to condone such behaviour.
This really takes the cake and is the last straw.
Everyone can beat around the bush and give a million reasons blah blah blah about it but the fact remains that Dayang is taking us all for a ride. And at our expense too.
Vote her out if we are not happy? Pleaaaase...you think I wanna waste my hard earned money, because OIAM couldn't keep one of its high profile contestant in check and do the right thing in the first place. Wake up and smell the coffee. Show your viewers a little more respect for supporting 8TV's shows so passionately for so long. We more than deserve it. Don't make a mockery out of it, anymore.

Well said funkmaster and dragon.
After reading many different views, my final conclusion are as follows:-
(1) The main culprit is the organiser that create all these unnecessary frenzy. Then again, was it intentional? hmmmm. Food for Thought.
(2) Well as I mentioned before, damages is done but at the expense of Dayang which is trapped at the center of this drama.
(3) Since this UNFAIR ADVANTAGES have happened, issit than Robin may take advantages of this situation.
Dayang decides NOT to show up for an important rehersal at Sri Pentas 2 yesterday afternoon, which pissed off more than a few people there.
(4) I also found out that she has missed 7 out of 9 OIAM promotional activities. She has only done 2 thus far. I am willing even to excuse giving a couple of events a miss because of previously arranged engagements, but 7??? And then having the audacity to skip rehersals at so late a stage in the competition. That's really taking the mickey out of us. If you are serious about winning a million RM, would you do that? Enough is enough. Stop taking the fans for granted. And OIAM please stop condoning it.
hmmmm, 7 out of 9. Wow, shld we contact MBR to get it printed on their next edition as the Contestant with The Most Missed Promotional Activities of Any Reality Show.
Since Robin like to play MIA so often, she may just decide not to turn up on Friday too for her performance or could it be soon to be her last performance. If that ever happen, it may just save the organiser from further blushes.
(5) (a) There are only 4 more shows to crowning the 1st OIAM Winner. (b) Or shld I rephased it by saying crowning the 1st and Last OIAM Winner. (c) Or crowning to the One and Only OIAM Winner.
(6) Whoever is being crowned the Winner, does not matter now. What matters most is a total overhaul of the program Rules and Regulations or just condemned it. It's like using the analogy of an aged motor vehicles. ;D
(7) I guess let burried this episode permanently or else it may create the sequel of THE RISE OF THE LIVING DEAD, and let move on with the rest of the show.
CASE CLOSED.

"What matters most is a total overhaul of the program Rules and Regulations or just condemned it"
Huh?..contestant handling is done the same as MI was done, by pretty much the same ppl. Yes we have artists in this year, but ALL the contestants bend rules a bit, some more than others...thats happend since the beginning of MI1...some of the stories would make ur mind boggle!
And there are options apart from kicking ppl out of the show..some have been taken..i mean, there was an editorial decision to highlight the Dayang story in the Diary SHow a couple of weeks back..mmm...
I'm not saying 8TV handling of the contestants is flawless, but kicking someone out bcos they took a 'mile wen u gave them an inch'...should be a last resort. And i reiterate, Dayang is not the only one...if we were to be fair and kick out all trangressors, there'd be almost no-one left...not the desired elimination method - yet

The others will automatically have toed the line. You guys are so generous that you allowed that one to take an extra mile, after giving them an inch. Then they make a monkey out of you, and continue to do so. By the way how far will you guys allow it to go before you apply the "last resort"?
