Jay Park Hi-5 Session @ Celsius KL (3/12/10)
MEETING OF PALMS AT KOREAN STAR'S FAN SESSION

One with her idol ...for one brief moment.
If you are not a die hard fan, you might scoff at the idea that so many teenage girls (and a few not so teenage ones) forked out a fortune just to lock palms with Korean pop star Jay Park, at his exclusive Hi-5 Session, early Sunday morning, at the Celsius club, Fahrenheit 88, in Kuala Lumpur's popular shopping district. For the uninitiated, a Hi-5 session is basically a meet and greet session, where fans will get to literally high five the artiste, when they meet him. But unfortunately that's all they will get to do - no hugs, no photos, no autographs - just palming his hands, for a very very brief moment. To the serious fans, this is of little consequence. After all, its not often, Jay Park drops into town.
The former member and leader of popular South Korean boyband 2PM, made a two day stopover here, ahead of his Monday mini showcase in Jakarta, at the invitation of fledgling K-Pop promoters Absolutely Pop Resources. The Hi-5 Session was an extension of the the Fan Meet Session that was held a day earlier at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, especially for holders of the Absolutely VIP, Addicted VIP & VIP tickets. The privilege to attend both sessions cost fans between RM360 to RM600. Over a hundred fans made their way to the trendy & mercurial Celsius club, which happens to be Kuala Lumpur's latest hot spot, to make "contact" with a rather disconnected Jay at the event that flew by within half an hour.
It may seem rather superfluous for most of us, but to the 23 year old Korean American's adoring, extremely thrilled, and continuously screaming fans, its a small price to pay to get this close to their idol.
