Russian Circles Arrive In KL (23/9/10)
CHICAGO INSTRUMENTAL METAL BAND AMAZED BY KL ON ARRIVAL

Discordant yet delicate musicians Mike Sullivan, Brian Cook & Dave Turncrantz.
Three piece instrumental metal band, Russian Circles, from Chicago, comprising of guitarist Mike Sullivan, drummer Dave Turncrantz & bassist Brian Cook, are already here in KL after arriving from Singapore for their two city Far East tour. The band who is scheduled to perform live, 8pm tonight (24/9/10) at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (Klpac) on Jalan Strachan, were guests at VR1's Playtime launch party, last night at the Celebrities Club in Solaris, Mont Kiara. Rentak Sejuta was pleasantly surprised and pleased to have bumped into them, and managed to have a quick, informal chat with the friendly lads, who seemed right at home in our city. The trio who were out checking out the local band scene, with record label and concert promoter Soundscape's Mak & his colleagues, were quite amazed at how easy it was to get around KL and did not experience any culture shock, as they found people friendly and easy to communicate with. The only shock that they had, according to Dave Turncrantz, was being nearly knocked down by a motorist, after he was looking the wrong way while attempting to cross the road. Dave apparently forgot that the traffic flowed the other way in Malaysia as opposed to the US. Poor Dave. Well we are glad that he is one piece and will be setting KL buzzing tonight, when the band who are known for their energetic live shows, treats us to their sprawling music which has been described as atmospheric, emotional and powerful.
