Nyoba Kan International Buto Festival 2010 (05 - 15/08/10)
This year's Nyoba Kan Buto Festival kicks off with a special exhibition entitled "Lurking" which features selected photographic works by the late Caecar Chong, a photographer, designer and principal dancer with Nyoba Kan. Curated by Caecar's close friend and director of Nyoba Kan, Mr. Lee Swee Keong, this exhibition showcases Caecar's unique and keen eye as a photographer influenced by his practice of the Buto art form & his training as an architect.
In this event, there will also be an appearance of Mr. Yukio Waguri, a prominent Japanese Buto artist who had studied the art directly under Tatsumi Hijikata, and later became the main dancer in Hijikata’s company. He is famous among the buto practitioners and he has been performing and conducting workshops on Buto all over the world for more than 30 years.
