Fancy a 15-minutes stage time at the prime locations above where you can showcase your talent in front of hundreds of spectators? Wait no more!
The highly anticipated music event of the year is back! Fete de la Musique Malaysia is coming to you on 20th June 2010 at four locations! That's right, this year we are celebrating music, arts and culture in Bukit Bintang KL, The Curve PJ, Klang Parade, Klang and Penang ! Get ready to revel in 12 hours of non-stop live performances happening simultaneously in all four cities!
Best part is, we want you to join us ! Sign up as a performer and that 15 stage time is yours for free! You can perform a solo act, form a band, dance, beat box, strum on a guitar , the list is endless!
Organised by HELP University College since 2002, Fête de la Musique is largely spontaneous in nature, open to amateur and professional musicians without discrimination against background, style and experience. The unstructured nature of the festival is the basis of its success, and at the same time, promotes cultural diversity to mass appeal.
In keeping with our 8-year-old tradition, Malaysia becomes part of the worldwide celebration that is happening in more than 300 cities around the world, on the very same day - the day of pure summer solstice.
About Fete De la Musique
The idea for the Fete de la Musique was first broached in 1976 by American musician Joel Cohen, then employed by the French national radio station France Musique. Cohen proposed an all-night music celebration at the moment of the summer solstice. The idea was taken up by French Music and Dance director Maurice Fleuret to Minister of Culture, Jack Lang in 1981 and the first event took place in 1982. Three years later, the music celebration was exported from France .
Its purpose is to promote music in two ways:
* Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. The slogan Faites de la musique (Make music), a homophone of Fête de la Musique, is used to promote this goal.
* Many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public. Two of the caveats being sanctioned by the official Fête de la Musique organization in Paris are that all concerts must be free to the public, and all performers donate their time for free.
