Hi,
Just to pen a few thoughts from me. I have been following the show closely from either attending the live show or watching the TV from home when I can't make it to the Ruums. A few things that I urge 8TV production team to improve should they wish to continue Season 2.
1. Pls have a diversity of judges. As I can see most of the weekly judges are from Contemporary/Lyrical background, only 1 (Yannus) from Hip Hop and no representatives from classical/traditional/ethic dance, ballroom/latin background. I don't deny their expertise and experience in their own field. But sometimes, only those dance gurus/experts in their own field can spot the contestants mistake, point out and help them to improve and also give MEANINGFUL comments. I emphasize here MEANINGFUL. I have compared with the US version of SYTYCD ( season 1 and 2, and now watching season 3) and also with New Zealanad version SYTYCD (season 1, I was fortunate to watch that when I spent a few months in NZ last year). They have a great variety of judges and guest judges. Every week, there is at least 1 representative from each dance genre( hip hop/contemporary/ballroom). So the judges can really give out sound & FAIR advices. They are also able to pick the DESERVED bottom contestants. But here in Msia, sadly we don't see that. We actually have lots of qualified ppl out there to judge. 8TV should even consider to ask the choreographers to take turn to become weekly judges as like what was being down in US. PLS make this show a HIGH STANDARD show, not another lame reliaty TV show. Make it a highly commended one.
2. Pls choose appropriate music for each dance style. I have seen non-Mambo song being chosen for Mambo dance (it was a cha-cha-cha song actually (Sex Bomb)), non-salsa song chosen for Salsa dance and many more which i can't quote everyone down here. And believe me it is not the Choreographers' mistake or choice. This is insider info ok!!!! It is the 8TV production crew's decision. Pls appoint someone who really knows the music to be the Person in charge of music. If you don't pick the right music with right rhythm, how do u expect the contestants to feel the rhythm and bring out their best???
3. Pls prolong the voting time and also can we have a professional TV editor here who can really quickly edit some good recaps of the couple and solo dance routines and screen it to whole Malaysia while asking the ppl to vote and even when the judges are giving out comments, just like what was and is being done in overseas. We do have such experts in Malaysia but I don't know whether 8TV have some talents in their production team. Those short recaps will be very helpful and convincing when the judges point out the dancers' mistakes or when complimenting them when they have done a good job. So there won't be anyone here shouting unfairness or who are the actual deserved ones to stay. I don't see such issues in overseas and those in their top 4s are really good & versatile dancers who really deserve to stay there. But can we say the same in Malaysia??? I let you all make the judgement. I believe all of you out there (audiences, viewers and even forumers) are rational & smart viewers who can really make good decision and vote the best dancer in Malaysia base on their TALENTS and not on their looks/gender/race.
May the best Talent win!!!!
and I do hope somebody can convey my message to 8TV. I really wish to see a better season 2 if we really have
