Ummi Umairah WCOPA Grand Champion (6/07/2024)
TEAM MALAYSIA JUNIOR VOCALIST UMAIRAH WINS GRAND CHAMPION OF THE WORLD AT WCOPA 2024!
Ummi Umairah Abdullah, a 13-year-old high secondary school student from Kuantan, Pahang made Malaysia proud by snapping up the much coveted Grand Champion of the World title at the World Championship of Performing Arts 2024 Final, held at the Long Beach Convention Centre in Long Beach, California, last Saturday.
Umairah, who happens to be the niece of Malaysian vocal powerhouse Datuk Seri Siti Nurhalizah, also picked a Gold Medal and Division Champion title in the R&B/Soul/Jazz (13 - 15) category in the competition which is considered by many as the Olympics of performing arts.
Umairah sang Aretha Frankiln's "A Natural Woman" in the finals. She was coached by Malaysian WCOPA alumna & medal-winning singer and vocal coach Melissa Anne from Penang, who had less than a month to prepare her. They had 3 sessions together which lasted more than 3 hours per session before the competition.
"She’s super talented and a quick learner. At such a young age she can catch difficult phrases and techniques fast. A future star in the making," expressed Melissa to Rentak Sejuta.
Her well deserved victory will certainly bode well with all Malaysians while giving hope and inspiration to other local talents who wish to pursue a career in music and performing arts.
Umairah is certainly on her way to becoming a superstar in her own right like her famous aunt whom she closely resembles and sounds like.
She is seen posing here with WCOPA President Gwen Wilson (R) and Asia-Pacific Licensor Anthony Cheah.
Rentak Sejuta congratulates Umairah on her success on the world stage and looks forward to more achievements from her in the near future.
