IIFW 2022 Medical Equipment Presentation Ceremony To Paediatrics Department, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh, Perak (18/05/23)

International IPOH Fashion Week 2022 (4th Edition) came to its official conclusion with the handing over of RM 104,883.36 worth of specialised medical equipment to the Paediatrics Department, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) Ipoh on 18th May 2023. The handover ceremony which was held at the Women, Children and Cardiology Complex (KWKK) of the hospital was graced and witnessed by Her Royal Highness DYMM Tuanku Zara Salim, the Raja Permaisuri of Perak. The funds for the equipment were raised through donations during the fourth edition of the highly successful world-class fashion week which was held in October last year as part of their ongoing corporate social responsibility program, where a total of RM 121,000 was raised through donations and table sales for their Charity Gala Night which was held at the Hotel Casuarina in Meru, Ipoh on 21st October, last year. The MFMPA Fashion Week of The Year recipient has so far raised more than RM 580K with its "Fashion With A Heart" concept for the hospital, since IIFW's inception in 2017. They have also raised more than RM 80K towards the funding of local NGOs.
Her Royal Highness also visited the Intensive Care Unit (PICU), High Dependency Unit (PHDU) and Surgical Unit of the Paediatric Department during her visit. Accompanying her during the visit was the spouse of the Chief Minister of Perak YABhg Datin Seri Aezer Binti Zubin, the spouse of Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja YABhg Toh Puan Datin Seri Diraja Puan Sri Hajah Rasiah Bt. Md Nor, Perak Health Director Dr Sirajuddin bin Hashim, IIFW Patron & Chairman of Perak Food Bank YBhg Datin Seri Dr Nomee Ashikin Mohammed Radzi, HRPB Director Dr Megat Iskandar bin Megat Abdul Hamid, HRPB Paediatric Department Head Dr Siti Aishah and Founder & CEO of IIFW Louis Sebastian.

"Apart from creating opportunities, promoting tourism, and connecting people, we do our bit through God’s mercy by caring for the less fortunate." expressed IIFW founder & CEO Louis Sebastian.
"My hospital visit in 2017, during a short tour of the PICU unit with the then Head of Paediatric Dato Dr Amar Singh was indeed an eye opener. My feelings of emotion had not only touched my heart but the hearts of many up to this day," added Louis.
"We will continue to appeal for support from all parties including corporate sectors and individual donors not forgetting table sale tickets during the "Fashion with a Heart" Charity Gala Dinner which we host every year. This would certainly enable us to make further valuable contributions to the hospital as we grow IIFW into a bigger and widely recognised international fashion extravaganza," he shared.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Pediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU) in the Department of Pediatrics, HRPB were moved to the Women, Children and Cardiology Complex (KWKK) in 2020. It is currently headed by Dr Siti Aishah Binti Saidin. PICU and PHDU are referral centres for children's terminal and serious illness cases in the state of Perak. In addition, PICU and PHDU also receive cases of children from other states such as Penang and Kedah, as well as children referred from other departments such as Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric ENT, Pediatric Dentistry, Pediatric Orthopedics, Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Respiratory. A total of 12 beds are available at the PICU and 15 beds in the PHDU.
From the funds collected last year, IIFW has managed to purchase 3 types of medical equipment as follows:
i) Video flexible laryngoscope without working channel, (Insighters, China) x 1 set
ii) Fabian Therapy Evolution, (Acutronic, Switzerland) x 1 unit (Complete Set)
iii) Pulse Oxymeter with Reporting Software x 1 set

With a tagline Perak to the World and welcoming the World to the Wonders of Perak, IIFW™ has flourished organically, becoming not only a forum for individual designers but also an opportunity for young curators to set out how their generation sees things. For me, it is both exciting and humbling to see creative people coming together to articulate who they are; fashion is a medium which does this for individuals, and, at best, can generate a proper pride in national identity and resourcefulness. I have personally learned so much and started following the careers of young designers. Thanks to the support of the Perak State Government, Tourism Perak, Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh, Tourism Malaysia and other state agencies for making our dream a reality." Sebastian concluded optimistically.
