The Malaysia Championship of Performing Arts (MCOPA), founded by Romli Bidin, is a program designed to find the best talents to represent Malaysia at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), what is regarded as the "Olympics" of performing arts, in Los Angelos, USA. With more than 70 countries participating, it is the largest competition of its kind held annually in Hollywood. It is a one-of-a-kind talent event that blends the strongest appeal of athletic competition with entertainment values.
"Malaysia has an abundance of talented performers. But many are unable to expose themselves due to a lack of opportunities or contacts in the industry. MATME Management offers them the opportunity to showcase their talents to the world, particularly to Hollywood - the entertainment capital of the world," expressed MATME's CEO & National Team Director Romli.
"It's our goal to assemble a great Malaysian performing arts team to compete at the 2023 World Championship of Performing Arts in Anaheim, California. Not only that, it's our mission to inspire all Malaysian performers regardless of their age, to unleash their talents as well as their artistic creations on the global stage," added National Team Director Asmi.
"Malaysia Championship of Performing Arts is the best platform to present the arts and take it to the next level at the international stage," concluded National Team Director Jasnie.
Thanks to the excellent production and quality of the finalists, this year's finals turned out to be more than just a competition, it felt like a full blown concert instead. Looks like Malaysia will be bringing back a lot more medals and maybe one or two prestigious Champions of the World titles this year.
MCOPA 2023 was supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia. Venue sponsors included 1st Avenue in Penang and Fahrenheit88 in Kuala Lumpur, while the national final venue was SICC in Kota Kinabalu..
