The Fireflyz Official Launch @ Pulse Grande Hotel, Putrajaya (16/12/2022)
The launch of The Fireflyz, a film produced by Redboy Pictures Sdn Bhd was held at the Pulse Grande Hotel, Putrajaya. The release of this film has been completed by En Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Deputy Director General (Planning) The Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (LPPM) or Tourism Malaysia represents Dato' Haji Zainuddin Abdul Wahab, Director General of LPPM. The launch ceremony was attended by Dato' Sri Dr How Kok Choong, Executive Chairman of Redboy Pictures Sdn Bhd, Mr Joseph Tan Huang Kew, Managing Director of Chek Hup Group as the main presenter of The Fireflyz movie and En Ahmad Fitri bin Dato' Isahak, secretary of the Malaysian Dyslexia Association (PDM). Also present together at this launch ceremony is the main cast which is Taufiq Hanafi and Rhys William, media practitioner and guest speaker.
In his opening speech, En Iskandar Mirza welcomed and supported production of The Fireflyz movie to help Tourism Malaysia rebrand Malaysia as a major international tourism destination. He also hopes, besides instead of promoting interesting tourist locations, this film can also display Malaysia's uniqueness in other aspects such as cultural diversity owned by its population. He also hopes that this film will be able to attract the interest of local tourists to stimulate the domestic tourism economy.
The film, which will be directed by Liam Lai, is scheduled to begin filming on in March 2023 in areas that are the focus of tourists around the state of Selangor. This film suitable for watching by the whole family is also scheduled to meet the audience in cinemas across the country on 16th September 2023 in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebration.
The movie The Fireflyz tells the story of a school physical education teacher rural high school, Cikgu Adam (Taufiq Hanafi) who is also an assistant a teacher from the United Kingdom, Ms. William (Rhys William) trains a group of students who was chosen to represent the school in a well-known school football team as The Fireflyz. The Fireflyz team participated in an average tournament joined and dominated by football teams from elite clubs and schools. No shoes proper football and wearing a worn jersey, the players of The team Fireflyz continued to train and compete with the spirit of comradery, never giving up and believe in your own abilities.
Among the players of The Fireflyz team is Fazli, a dyslexic student from the program special education in the same school. Fazli who has the skills to play football did not have the opportunity to represent the school football team because of dyslexia he suffered. Fazli's talent and skills were later noticed by Cikgu Adam and Cikgu William who trained Fazli to be a main striker feared by enemy team. However, Fazli first needs to win their trust his teammates doubting his ability to play due to stigma and his background as a dyslexic student.
Chief Executive Officer of Redboy Pictures Sdn Bhd, Mr Terence Tulus, said, this is not the first time his company produced a film based on film tourism or 'film tourism' because last February, Redboy Pictures released a movie titled C144 which displays the cultural uniqueness of the local indigenous community alongside the beauty of the flora and fauna found in Malaysia. "Hope that with the production of the film The Fireflyz, besides being able to raise awareness about dyslexia to the audience, it can also help promote Malaysia as an interesting tourist and film shooting destination. With the visuals of green paddy fields, the unique cultural diversity of the community and the friendliness of the locals, I'm sure the movie The Fireflyz got a little bit attracting local and international audiences to come and experience for themselves the experience".
According to the Managing Director of the Chek Hup Group, Mr Joseph Tan Huang Kew, as the presenter main movie The Fireflyz, his company supports the production of this movie because of the cause Its publication is in line with the company's goal of always helping the people who needy and disadvantaged.
