Anugerah Lagu Indie 2021 Finale (18/12/2021)
ARUNBOii WINS ANUGERAH LAGU INDIE 2021, WITH TAMIL RAP SONG "ENGE PORT"
Story by: Dragon
Anugerah Lagu Indie clearly proved that there are definitely no barrers when it comes to good music, especially when Tamil rap song "Enge Port" by rapper Arunboii edged out 757 other competing songs in a strong field of predominantly Malay language tracks, to win this year's song of the year award, at Spacerubix in Puchong late last night. Not only did he win the judges minds, but he also won the hearts of all those who enjoyed listening to his intense but meaningful rap track, which resulted in him also clinching Tunecores Choice Award, as well.
It was a harrowing 24 hours for Arunboii prior to the finals as he was trapped in his office from 10.00 pm the night before, for 12 hours, due to the nationwide storm and flooding around his workplace. He however managed to get home the next morning, with only enough time to pick up a change of clothes, before heading to the venue of the final, where he had to shower and change ahead of rehearsals and the finals. He completed his finals performance with a four piece rock band supporting his rapid rapping style.
"Enge Port" was composed by Black Yoda, with lyrics by Arunboii himself.
For his valiant effort a visibly overjoyed Arunboii won himself RM 7,000 in cash from Tunecore. He also received a Home Recording Set & a MacBook Air for his Tunecore Choice Award as well.
In second place wining RM 3,000 in cash from Tunecore was "Jauh" by Nusarasa, while Ainina Hasnul & Eidi Teman Lelaki's "Tentang Siang, Malam Dan Romantis" took third with a cash win of RM 2,000.
Anugerah Paling Platinum was won by Late Night Frequency, while the popular song award was also won by Ainina Hasnul & Eidi Teman Lelaki for 'Tentang Siang, Malam Dan Romantis".
12 hopefuls competed at the final stage, after being whittled down from a record breaking 757 nominees. Songs in various languages were submitted this year including in English, Mandarin and even Japanese.
The winners were selected by a panel of 11 industry professionals that was led by chief judge & industry veteran Jennifer Thompson, and included iconic singer Amy Search, Rudy Nastia, Efry Arwis, Irena Taib, SXPH, Gjie, producer Michael Christian Simon, Imran Ajmain and JD Wong.
ALI 2021 was organised by Hashtag Media, Kamar Seni Studio and Angkasa Event Space, and presented by Rakita. Among the key sponsors included Tunecore, believe and ESI.
Rentak Sejuta is one of the supporting media for the competition which was inaugurated last year.
