COVID-19 Status Update as of 11.59 pm, 5th October 2021
Infections nationwide drop rise significantly to 8,817 new cases but remain below the 9K mark yesterday, taking the cummulative total to 2,294,457.
Sarawak remains at the top of the leaderboard with 1,361 new cases. Selangor's sudden resurgence of almost double new infections pushes it up into second place with 1,341 cases, followed by Kelantan at 1,063.
Kuala Lumpur rises a bit to report 217 new cases while Putrajaya reports 23.
Johore rises a little to report 886 new cases.
Sabah also remains below the 1K mark to report 805 new cases while Kedah drops to 576 despite a surge of new cases from a premium hotel in Langkawi.
Perak drops further to record 548 new cases.
Melaka and Negeri Sembilan see a minor rise of 246 and 122 new cases respectively. On the east coast, Pahang rises to 696 while Terengganu drops by nearly half to report 356 new cases.
Perlis climbs slightly to 47 new cases while Labuan reports 3 new cases.

15,615 have recovered yesterday which is higher than the day before, taking the total recoveries to 2,131,636.
Active cases now stand at 135,945.
8,243 of these cases are currently hospitalised with 846 in ICU, and 441 on ventilators.
Deaths rose to 117, taking the total fatalities to 26,876.
88.4% of the adult population have already received their complete vaccinations, while 94.5% have received their first dose. 5.5% are still unvaccinated. 3.8% of adolescents are fully vaccinated while 63.8% of the total population are fully vaccinated.
