Rules & Regulations
Drumline
1. This competition is open to S.O.X. members only.
2. All teams must submit their entry forms before the closing date as stated. Submissions received after the closing date will not be accepted
3. Only the first 20 teams who submit their forms before the closing date will be eligible to compete. Submissions entered after the first 20 teams will not be included
4. Only a maximum of 3 teams from each school is allowed to participate.
5. Participation is limited from a minimum of 8 members to a maximum of 10 members per team.
6. Time given to each team to perform is 3 minutes maximum (minimum 1 arrangement/cadence).
7. In occurrence of a tie point during the selection of finalists, each group will need to compete against each other in a 2-slot of 1.5-minutes battle.
8. The top 4 teams will forward to the Grand Finale. Each team is given a maximum of 3 minutes to perform in a 2-slot battle against each.
9. Each team needs to prepare at least 2 different routines consist of cadences, drill and displays.
10. Each team is compulsory to prepare one creative S.O.X. cadence.
11. All teams must be in full and proper uniform or costume during competition.
12. Scores are made up of 70% professional jury scores and 30% SMS votes.
13. Colour guards may be used to enhance performance of teams
Cheer Dance
1. This competition is open to S.O.X. members only.
2. All teams must submit their entry forms before the closing date as stated. Submissions received after the closing date will not be accepted.
3. Only the first 20 teams which submit their forms before the closing date will be eligible to compete. Submissions entered after the first 20 teams will not be included.
4. Only a maximum of 3 teams from each school are allowed to participate.
5. This competition will follow the standardised Malaysian cheerleading rules set by CHARM. Teams are reminded to follow the rules as infractions could cost teams points.
6. This category is only open to all-female teams or all-male teams. No mixed (co-ed) teams are allowed.
7. Team size is limited to a minimum of 10 members, and a maximum of 15 members per team.
8. Allotted performance time given to each team is 2½ minutes (30 seconds cheer portion in the beginning of the routine, followed by a 2-minute music routine).
9. Pompons are to be used for 50% to 100% of the routine. However, male dancers are not required to use pompons in their routine.
10. Each team’s routine must include the following elements:
i. One (1) style of dance (Jazz, Hip Hop, etc.)
ii. One (1) cheer dance
iii. One (1) creative S.O.X. cheer (compulsory)
iv. One (1) sideline chant
v. Two (2) jumps in succession
11. A 5-point penalty will be imposed for each of the compulsory exercises the team fails to perform.
