Lockdown Listen Day 15 (27/07/2021)
Day 15 of Lockdown Listen brought up these two contrasting albums last Tuesday:
37. Unconditionally Guaranteed 2000.7 (Uncut)
38. Robbie Williams Greatest Hits (Universal)
British singer Robbie Williams is probably the most successful boy band member who went solo. He had greater commercial success on his own than with Take That, especially since eleven out of his twelve solo studio albums have reached number one in the UK, with six of his albums being among the top 100 biggest selling albums of all time.
He also has 7 UK number 1 hits under his belt, but only 5 are found in this greatest hits compilation. "Candy is not here in this 2004 release as it was released in 2012. Noticeably missing is" Something Stupid" but it doesn't quite matter because Williams has so many equally great Top 10 songs, which fortunately made it into this collection.
The 19-track "Robbie Williams Greatest Hits" offers a great roundup of his musical journey as a successful solo artist, but we are certain hardcore fans will not be satisfied with a single disc compilation, and would want more, including all the hits from Take That.
Not surprising at all, as Williams is not just any pop star, he is pop royalty.
"Unconditionally Guaranteed 2000.7" by Uncut magazine, is another of their monthly free music CDs that comes with it. The series offers you the opportunity to discover great music both new and old, with a slant towards rock, Americana and alternative country. This July 2000 edition is no different. Listen with an open mind to expand your musical taste. Loads of varied but well curated tracks in this compilation from a music magazine with real pedigree.
Stream them from most digital platforms and enjoy. Not sure whether you will be able to find Unconditionally Guaranteed digitally, but you might find the tracks individually. You can also search on Amazon or Discog for a physical copy.
