Day 13 of Lockdown Listen saw us listening to just one CD:
33. 100% Acid Jazz Volume 2 (Telstar)
You simply can't go wrong with this release from Telstar which has licensed an amazing set of tracks from a host of labels and features an excellent cross section from the genre. If you are not familiar, Acid Jazz which originated in the clubs of London in the eighties, is a genre that combines elements of funk, soul, hip hop, jazz and disco into a stimulating mix that will move not just your body but your mind & soul as well.
Almost all the major purveyors of the scene, such as The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, D-Influence, Incognito, Stereo MCs and beyond, are included in this stellar collection. Even trip hopper Tricky and electronic musician Bomb The Bass (Tim Semenon) contribute their engaging tunes to this album.
"100% Acid Jazz Volume 2" is an excellent introduction to those who are not familiar and would like to be indoctrinated. But be prepared to spend a lot of time on your feet.
For those who are familiar, this 1995 compilation album is an energising stroll through memory lane. We can already see your bodies twisting and grinding.
