Lockdown Listen Day 6 (18/07/2021)
Day 6 of Lockdown Listen saw us popping in the following plastic platters into our disc player:
18. Super Fresh (Warner/Sony)
19. XTC - White Lies (Virgin)
20. Ms Dynamite - A Little Deeper (Polydor)
Super Fresh is an excellent reference of commercial modern rock tracks from the first three years of the third millennium. It has some of the best tracks from the likes of Linkin Park, Evanescence, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Creed, Oasis, Coldplay, John Mayer, Avril Lavigne and more. All hits no misses here.
White Lies is the debut 1978 full length studio album by phenomenal British art rockers XTC who were once the toast of the new wave scene of the Eighties. Even after over forty years, all their numbers from this album are still uniquely and refreshingly engaging. Even our publisher Anastasia who did not grew up with eighties scene was thoroughly enjoying it. This 19-track version is the 2001 CD reissue, which also includes bonus numbers from their 1977 "3D" debut EP. This is a highly recommended listen.
Also a highly recommended listen is "A Little Deeper" by Mercury Prize and Brit Awards winning R&B singer Niomi Arleen McLean-Daley a.k.a.Ms Dynamite. The album feels just as good today as it first did in 2002. Definitely a must have for all British R&B fans.
