Esplanade Presents Jazz In July 2021 ft Rick Smith & Promise (Singapore) @ Esplanade Concourse & Online (11/07/2021)

This is a pilot trial performance with limited seating capacity which may vary depending on the venue. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
All patrons are required to do SafeEntry check-in at the venue via the TraceTogether app or token only. Other modes of SafeEntry check-in will not be accepted. To ensure a smooth entry, please download the TraceTogether app ahead of the performance if you have not already done so. We regret that patrons who do not have the app or the token will be denied entry.
An all-star ensemble led by Rick Smith promises to impress with both grooves and nuance.
About Promise
Promise is a truly international group of musicians from USA, Taiwan, Cuba and Singapore. The group will be performing a variety of original music written and arranged by Rick Smith. They will explore a wide variety of grooves and textures that reflect their diversity, with a sound built on a combination of classical textures and nuance with the improvisational character of jazz. Featuring Pablo Cazaldo on percussion, Brandon Wong on bass, Richard Jackson on vocals, Judy Tsai on Cello and Rick Smith on guitar.
About Rick Smith
Rick Smith is a guitarist, educator and composer with over 40 years of professional experience. He has been based in Singapore since 1991, contributing to the arts and music scene as both a teacher and performer. During this time, he directed the National University of Singapore Jazz Band for more than 10 years and served as the band leader-guitarist at the legendary jazz venue, Harry’s Bar at Boat Quay, for 17 years. He is currently teaching at School of the Arts and LASALLE College of the Arts.
