Esplanade Presents Jazz In July 2021 ft Aledeu Trio (Singapore) @ Esplanade Concourse & Online (08/07/2021)

This is a pilot trial performance with limited seating capacity which may vary depending on the venue. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Alvin Wong, Edmund Wuu, and Eugene Ang come together as the Aledeu Trio to present an evening of jazz standards. Long-time friends and collaborators, the trio form a cohesive unit that emphasises listening, empathy and interplay. They will be playing tunes such as Benny Golson’s Whisper Not, Sonny Rollins’ Oleo and Johnny Mercer’s I Remember You.
About Edmund Wuu
Edmund Wuu plays jazz saxophone in a wide variety of settings, from solo performances and intimate duos to saxophone quartets and big bands. He has also performed with large ensembles such as the Singapore Wind Symphony City Swing Stage Band, Singapore Jazz Orchestra, Summertimes Big Band and funk group Fungkimunkees.
Beyond Singapore, Wuu has also performed in many cities across South East Asia, including Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Phnom Penh, Vientiane and Dili. He was the in-house saxophonist at St James Power Station’s Bellini Room Band and has performed as part of Singapore Jazz Festival, Singapore Arts Festival and Indonesian Music Expo.
About Alvin Wong
Alvin Wong is a professional guitarist and composer based in Singapore. He attended Berklee College of Music, where he had the privilege of studying with the likes of Tim Miller, Bruce Saunders, Nir Felder, Hal Crook and many others.
About Eugene Ang
Eugene Ang’s musical journey began with classical music before he eventually switched to jazz. He moved to New York City for two transformative years to absorb the energy of the big city and acquire new musical insights. Ang has played at festivals such as Singapore International Festival of Arts, Mosaic Music Festival, Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts and CHIJazz. He has also played at music festivals in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, China and Laos.
Ang has recorded two albums with jazz band Mellow Motif, of which he was a founding member. In 2013, he released a duo album with flautist Rit Xu titled On a Little Street in Singapore: A Jazzy Conversation. Ang has recorded two albums with the Rit Xu Group in This Too Shall Pass and Scenes and Stories.
