MPUIM 2020 saw 19 finalists competing virtually for honours, from their own cities. They were selected from state-level pageants held in Sabah, Sarawak and Semenanjung last year.
The winners in the finals were selected virtually by an esteemed panel of judges made up of industry professionals and pageant heavyweights.
Despite facing a host of challenges as a result of the pandemic and movement controls in place by the authorities, pageant organisers and franchise holders Brenda And BranDan Art Paradise still managed to stage the virtual finals and its virtual pageant week successfully. MPUIM 2020 was originally supposed to be held in Miri last November but was postponed because of travel and various other restrictions. To ensure that there would be no more delays in picking 2020's queen, the responsible organisers decided to conclude the competition by going virtual instead.
"We have to accept that virtual is the new normal", MPUIM National Pageant Director BranDan Peter Yeo expressed. "We even had to ship all sponsor items to various cities nationwide to ensure that the finalists could participate fairly in our pageant activities during pageant week", Yeo added.
"Furthermore we could only coach and guide them virtually but the delegates adapted quickly".
"#MPUIM is all about women's empowerment and this unprecedented global situation seems to have brought more independence and inventiveness to our passionate and industrious participants" concluded a beaming Yeo.
The winner of MPUIM was originally supposed to compete at the world finals in Mexico, but the world finals may also be staged virtually but it has yet to be confirmed.
Rentak Sejuta is proud to support MPUIM 2020 as its official media partner.
