National COVID-19 Immunisation Program Launched @ PKD Putrajaya (24/02/2021)
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Program was officially launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Muhammad Yassin, at the Pusat Kesihaatan Daerah (PKD) Putrajaya this afternoon. The official launch was also attended by the Minister for Health, Dato' Sri Dr. Adham bin Baba, Minister for Science, Technology & Innovation YB Khairy Jamaluddin and the Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Noor Hisham bin Abdullah.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin was the first Malaysian to be officially inoculated with the very first dose of the Cominarty vaccine from Pfizer-Biontech, which arrived in Malaysia on 21st February 2021. The vaccine was administered by Sister Lina Ibrahim, a 23-year-old veteran healthcare professional from PKD Putrajaya. The Prime Minister will receive his second dose on 17th March 2021.
Sister Lina also administered the vaccine to the second recipient, medical frontliner Clement Frances.
The third person to receive the vaccine today was the much-lauded Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who has been striving very hard to curb the spread of the virus in Malaysia, right from the very first case was discovered here in Malaysia.
The initial batch of vaccines will first be administered to 500,000 frontliners.
The launch of the #COVID19 vaccine in Malaysia gives much hope to our nation that has been terribly and tragically affected by the pandemic for more than 1 year.
Before leaving the centre, the Prime Minister who was holding up a "I Have Been Vaccinated Card", encouraged all Malaysians to come forward and receive the vaccine, which will be available for free to all citizens.
