COVID-19 Status Update & Cluster Report (26/10/2020)
A record 1240 positive COVID-19 cases were reported today, with Sabah facing the bulk of it with 927 new cases. Another new cluster - Kapor - was announced today in the state.
Nearby Labuan saw 6 new cases today, with neighbouring Sarawak registering 7.
The highest number of new cases in the Peninsular was reported by Selangor at a massive 177, while Kuala Lumpur registered 17, There were no new cases in Putrajaya.
Penang saw an uncomfortable 61 new cases being reported today, while Kedah and Perak registered 3 and 8 cases respectively. Perak saw a new prison cluster emerging with Penjara Tapah. There were no cases reported in Perlis.
The Hampar cluster was among the new clusters announced in Negeri Sembilan today with the southern state recording another 25 positive cases. Melaka and Johore reported 2 and 3 new cases respectively.
On the East Coast, Terengganu reported 3 new cases while there were no cases in Pahang & Kelantan.
The total cumulative COVID-19 cases in Malaysia stands at 27,805. 691 patients were discharged today leaving 9.744 patients still being treated. of which 94 were in ICU with 31 on ventilators. Despite all the best efforts of the medical teams, 7 more patients succumbed to their illness, taking the fatalities tally to 236. All of today's deaths were registered in Sabah. Rentak Sejuta extends our deepest condolences to the bereaved.
