COVID-19 Status Update & Cluster Report (14/10/2020)
660 new Covid-19 cases were reported today off which 6 were imported and the rest locally transmitted.
As expected the brunt of the new cases at 429 was from Sabah, while Kedah reported 113 cases. Selangor and Kuala Lumpur reporting 68 and 12 new cases respectively, sending the Klang (9 new cases), Petaling (18), Hulu Langat (10) and Gombak (17) districts to be marked as red zones.
Penang reported 17 new cases, mostly contained to the Penjara Reman cluster (11) and Penjara Seberang Prai cluster (6), while Labuan reported 8 new cases.
Sarawak, Johore and Perak reported 3 new cases each, while Melaka reported 2 new cases. Putrajaya & Negeri Sembilan reported 1 new case each.
A total of 28 active clusters reported cases today, with a new cluster being announced - the Kencana cluster which saw cases spread over Selangor (Hulu Langat, Petaling, Klang & Gombak), Kuala Lumpur (Cheras) and Johore (JB, Batu Pahat & Pontian) - originating from case #13,805 who was confirmed positive on 7th October 2020. Close contact screening saw 16 others declared positive as well. 23 individuals were screened with 4 reported negative and 2 others awaiting results. Of the 17 positives, 8 were confirmed today.
The cumulative total of COVID-19 cases stands at whopping 17,450, with 11,605 cases already being discharged thus far, leaving a total of 5,768 active cases still being treated in hospitals nationwide, with 108 cases in ICU and 35 of them on respirators. A total of 233 patients were discharged today. Unfortunately, 4 more fatalities were announced today, all of them in Sabah, taking the total deaths to 167.
