Thanks to the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), active frontliners and responsible public, the COVID-19 pandemic outlook in our country is starting to look promising.
The total number of active cases that are currently being treated has been reduced to 1,764, with 37 patients still in ICU and 17 on respirators today. This is due to the lower number (40) of new cases being registered and a higher number (95) cases being discharged in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate has not dipped below the new cases rate since 22nd April 2020 and is expected to remain in the positive until the MCO is lifted.
5 new cases were discovered among Malaysian travellers who returned from abroad and 14 were detected among tested residents locked down under the #EMCO in Bandar Baru Utara Kuala Lumpur. EMCO locations of Menara Plaza City One and Selangor Mansion both registered 1 new case each. Of all the new cases reported yesterday, Kuala Lumpur still accounts for the highest with 30. Selangor reported 4 with Kuching reporting 3. Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah registered 1 case each. All other states were free of new infections.
Regretfully another death was reported today taking the total fatalities to 99. The deceased was a 78-year-old man from Johore with diabetes, hypertension and who was recovering from a stroke. Our sincerest condolences to the bereaved.
