#Covid19 status update as of 12.00 pm today, 18th April 2020.NEW INFECTIONS OF COVID-19 DROPS TO 54Story: Dragon Visuals: Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia Video: RTM FBThere seems to be a gradual decline of new infections with 54 new cases reported today, bringing the total overall infections to 5,306 cases. Another 135 cases have already been discharged today, with 2,115 patients still being treated. Unfortunately, the virus has claimed two more lives. Our deepest condolences to their families for their loss. 60% of the deaths involve patients above 60 years of age, while 80% of the deceased are also suffering from other ailments such as diabetes, kidney problems or heart disease. According to KKM's Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, so far no discharged patients have been re-admitted with fresh infections. But this does not mean that they are immune from the virus and may still be re-infected despite developing antibodies, as their antibodies are considered non-protective. There are also no new infections at the quarantined City One Plaza, Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion in Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur . Despite the reduction of cases, the Director-General reminded Malaysians to continue being vigilant as the pandemic is still far from being over.
