This Feeling ft Mani (Stone Roses) @ Havana, Changkat Bkt Bintang, Kuala Lumpur (27/02/10)Featuring: Mani (Stone Roses/Primal Scream) DJ set Twilight Action Girl (mandarin orange juggling tricks) Slack (DJ set/Koko Asia) Jersey Budd (live set) Tth Guv'Nor on the decks: Gary "Mani" Mounfield, former Stones Roses, present Primal Scream. The Hype: "We were called arrogant, but that arrogance was 100% self-belief - knowing what we were going to do and what we could achieve with it." - Mani (NME, 2009) "I'm the only person who could bring it back together again. Ian knows how to craft a tune, John knows how to craft a tune. I don't know if any of us are powerful without each other. The magic was the power of four." -Mani (Uncut, 2008) "No wonder that LP (The Stone Roses) sounds so mellow and laidback. We were constantly stoned to f**k. Hot knives and trips were the order of the day." - Mani (NME, 2009) The Cerita: Former members of legendary Brit bands becoming DJs are like ex top class footballers becoming managers; it does not guarantee success. A bit of Pep Guardiola magic dust, as you know, is all we need. Trust Gary "Mani" Mounfield (Stone Roses, Primal Scream) to put his name about in the club scene. Based on several good night outs in London and Manchester, Mani has become handy with the decks and worth the price of admission as a deejay. Long gone are the days of Mani swinging the groove with a Rickenbacker 4005 Jackson Pollock-influenced paint splattered bass, but it doesn't really matter ... a night out in KL with Madchester royalty is reason enough to get the fishing hats, baggy jeans and tie-dye tops out again.
