Nidji Live In KL Showcase @ Dragonfly (27/1/10)RAINBOW WARRIORS ROCK KL WITH RICH & KALEIDOSCOPIC A-POP SHOWCASEStory: Dragon Photos: Dragon & Candra AtikaAxeman Rama & vocalist Giring demonstrate how to play a "guitolin" with a lightsabre."Here the come again, the Indo-pop brigade once again in their yearly cyclic visit of neighboring Malaysia", that's what I thought when I heard rather late that alternate pop band Nidji was the first Indonesian act dropping by this year to do a showcase and launch their latest release "Let's Play". Expecting the same old formulaic treatment, from these rainbow warriors who first made a name for themselves with the promo song (Shadows) for the Asian edition of popular American TV series "Heroes", and a host of hit songs that eventually climaxed with the song "Laskar Pelangi" for top Indonesian art movie of the same name, I made my way to the showcase venue in my routine point & shoot only mode. Little did I expect to be blown away by Nidji's incredibly supercharged live performance which produced such a kaleidoscopic & lush soundscape, that had me by the jugular from the word go. It was such a treat to watch the band pump out such beautifully textured sounds that was immaculately layered and engaging, yet was raw & tectonic, made even more thrilling by vocalist Giring's energetic & giddying stagecraft. Full story & complete pics coming up.
