Live From JB Auditions (10/01/10)
Due to budget constraints, Rentak Sejuta had to transmit with a make shift sat dish.
Its day 2 of JB audtions, when the battle portion of the competition commences in a short while (around 5pm). The production decided to continue the auditions till 12pm today because of the low turnout of crews yeterday.
For whatever reasons, only 5 crews tried out yesterday although there were many JB B-boys turning up to support the crews. Many of them felt they were not ready this year and were a bit shy to tryout. 4 of the crews made it to today's battle portion where some of them will be eliminated, and will go no further into the competition. One of the crews (Sukahati Crew) was a scratch pair made up of two B-boys who turned up thinking it was a solo competition but somehow managed to put together a crew quickly fom the gathered fans at the auditions and even managed to convince the judges enough to put them through to the battle rounds.
Other than B-Boys who tried out yesterday, there was also a shuffling crew, who came reasonably prepared, complete with MJ styled clothing to catch the attention of the audience.
Just a reminder to dance fans, "Showdown 2010" is not just a competition for hip hop dancers or breakers, but is a multi genre competition, therefore anyone who has a dance crew can join this competiton - they can be jazz dancers, pop dancers, commercial dancers, latin, fusion, any discipline as long as they can put together a crew and come up with some exciting routines to impress the judges & fans. Don't let this brilliant opportunity to get noticed in the dance industry go to waste plus the prize money is RM 50,000. So there's a lot ridding there.
The competition is judged by hip hop taiko Joe Flizzow & champion dancer choreographer Maple Loo.
For those of you who are in JB, please do turnout today at Fun Zone, The Zone Duty Free Complex and support your favourite dance crews. Battles start at 5pm, so don't miss it.
