BAD ASS DIGEST / Meredith Borders
“ Melissa McCarthy finally gets the role she deserves, and she doesn't squander it. (Not for nothing: this is also true of Jason Statham.)”
MXDWN:
“And we have a winner of the evening of comedy! Paul Feig got the better of Judd Apatow on this showdown (a competition I’m more or less inventing). His new comedy starring Melissa McCarthy as a CIA desk jockey-turned-field agent plays hard against the Bond film archetype and does it very well.”
WE LIVE FILM:
“All in all, Spy is a fun film that pokes fun at the spy genre while providing a lot of laughs and action. The cast is wonderful and the clever and witty one-liners are pretty consistent throughout. Even though not everything about Spy is a home run, it is always a lot of fun to watch. If you are a fan of McCarthy, Bryne, or Statham, Spy is without a doubt a must-see.”
DVD TALK / Jeff Nelson
"Spy" is an uproarious satire on the 007 series. It's action-packed, hilarious, and an insanely good time. Melissa McCarthy is at her best since "Bridesmaids."

@gholson: Rose Byrne needs her own comedy now. Not as support. One where she is the above-title star.
