It took producer, Mujahid Abd Wahab, from Rumpun Records, a journey spanning 2568km into East Jawa's interior to procure Siti Nurhaliza's latest single "Galau" from its songwriter Cacaq. Mujahid first heard a demo of the song five years ago at a food stall in Duren Tiga, Jakarta, and his serious intention of commercializing the song found him searching out its composer in Genteng Watan. "When I first heard this track, I felt it was perfect for Siti and was likely to be a hit in both Malaysia and Indonesia" proclaimed Mujahid at the single's launch and press conference which was held at KL Tower, on Monday, 13th May, 2013. "From Surabaya, I travelled for nearly 8 hours by train, and then another 2 hours by car to reach my destination." added Mujahid. "I am extremely pleased that I managed to get this song for Siti."
The final release of "Galau" is the product of a cooperation between Universal Music Sdn Bhd and Nurhaliza Productions Sdn Bhd, and the brand new single is produced by Mujahid himself, with the assistance of vocal producer Mohariz Yaakub and arranger Firdaus Mahmud. Playing on the track are top musicians Kelly (bass), Ujang (drums), with a special appearance by local guitar icon Man Kidal, and also the renowned ethno-classical Sa'Unine Stings Orchestra from Jogjakarta. "Galau" is mixed by Ismael Arafat who is also the sound engineer for Indonesian acts Audi, Setia Band and Andra & The Backbone.
"Galau" which means disturbance or confusion, is a pop number that relates the tale of two lovers whose relationship is one of high dependency on each other as they face the challenges of life. "The song depicts the feelings of worry or sadness when one's lover is not around", explained Siti, when asked to comment about its message. Dato' Siti Nurhaliza, who is currently concentrating on her next album which is expected to be out after Aidilfitri, is pleased at the reception "Galau" was getting over local radio and in social networks, and hoped that her fans will wish her well in her continued endeavors.
Officially presented at the press conference was the music video for "Galau" which was filmed at the Moroccan Pavilion at the Botanical Gardens in Putrajaya, on 7th December 2012. According to its director Daryl Adrian Emuang, the location was chosen for its unique and beautiful architecture, which he felt was ideal for the visual representation of the contents of the track and as a lovely backdrop to showcase Siti's expressions, and also for the kaleidoscopic visuals of the Ariel Dancers. Daryl concluded that the video may be a little abstract and experimental for Siti's fans who may be used to more mainstream productions from the iconic singer. The music vdeo was produced by Resevoir Production who are well known for producing commercials and short films. Among their highlights are Yuna's "Sparkle" music video, Bernas' "The Journey" Hari Raya 2012 commercial and Petronas' "Strangers" Hari Raya 2012 commercial which was shot in Uzbekistan.
