Girls Generation saluting their fans for their overwhelming support.
From pussycat to tigress - Nicole Scherzinger shows her fans her real pedigree.
It was certainly the night for the ladies at the Twin Towers @live 2012 Concert which was held at the base of the magnificent Petronas Twin Towers at KLCC, in Kuala Lumpur last night, with the highly anticipated Malaysian debut performance by all girl K-Pop sensations Girls Generation roaring to a thunderous start, and sizzling international urban pop star Nicole Scherzinger taking the chequered flag with a power packed closing performance.
Sandwiched between the two international female acts was Malaysia's favourite urban star Reshmonu, pumping out a turbo charged percussion and electronica based set that had the fans all prepped up ahead of Nicole's afterburner. Coming on earlier, right after Girl's Generation's opening sizzler, was upcoming R&B sweetheart James Baum who put on a rock solid performance, but unfortunately failed to ignite the dispersing K-Pop crowd. It was quite obvious that nearly more than half who jam packed the concert area and the vicinity of KLCC were there for Girl's Generation, who were making their very first appearance in Malaysia. Some of them who had forked out RM300 each for the privilege to be in front of the stage and had already camped out the night earlier to be the first in line. By the time Rentak Sejuta and a few other fellow media friends arrived at the scene at 5.30pm, we had to wade through a sea of people just to reach the media registration booth. At one point we found ourselves completely trapped and unable to move forcing us to a climb a street fence to find a way out.
Girl's Generation who arrived in Kuala Lumpur just hours earlier, certainly didn't disapoint their eager fans who have been waiting for years to catch their idols live in action. Nearly all were seen carrying "Finally You Are Here" signs as indication of their anticipation. Although looking a little weary from their flight, the girls put on an admirable showcase of five dance pop songs. They have been doing what they do for so long, they probably could do it in their sleep, but the scramble from the airport straight to the concert venue certainly made a dent as not all their moves were perfectly as synchronised and as spot on as what was to be expected of them. And it had to be a short set too as Girl's Generation were scheduled to fly off immediately on the same night to Japan after their performance at the Twin Towers. But the fans didn't mind at all, their idols were finally here in the flesh!!!
Unfortunately most of these die hard fans didn't stay on to see the rest of the excellent acts lined up for the night. They quickly made their own exit as soon as the girls excited the stage. Thankfully the enormous void was filled up quickly by KL's party crowd, many who had come to see former Pussycat Doll, chart topping Nicole Scherzinger going to it solo. Arriving in Kuala Lumpur after a highly successful European concert tour, the exotic beauty showed off her amazing talents, combining pitch perfect vocals, complex dance moves, engaging stage persona, with loads of cheekiness pumped in for good measure, in an exhilarating showcase that teased everyone at KLCC to submission.
Race fans all over the world know that the F1 in Sepang International Circuit is the hottest race in the world, but the curvaceous Nicole certainly turned the stage below the Twin Towers into the hottest stage in the world with her temperature raising showcase. It was the perfect compliment to a sizzling weekend of racing fun at the Petronas Malaysian F1 GP, which will also see her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton giving it his all on the track. She is certainly a sophisticated superstar in the making, and the cheeky over emphasized booty wiggle as she excited the stage after her thrilling set, had the fans roaring in laughter and even more endeared to her. Many will be hoping to see her in a full concert here in Kuala Lumpur soon.
Also in the mix were the tag team deejays Prem & Double D who set pace earlier in the evening before the headliners, and Miss Universe Malaysia 2010, Nadine Ann Thomas, now turned upcoming deejay, who closed the night with an EDM set, that took a while to warm up the concert goers that stayed on.
It was an excellent first night at the second Twin Towers @live Concert staged at KLCC, and we look forward to catching Kelis, Orianthi, Faizal Tahir and DJ Nikki in action tonight. The two day concerts are organised by Jojo Events Sdn Bhd in conjunction with the formula one race weekend in Malaysia.
