DJ Snake Live In KL @ i-Club (28/1/12)
DANCE POP GETS A SNAKE BITE
Story & Photos: Dragon
Upcoming producer DJ Snake who made inroads into the international music scene recently after co-producing two tracks for Lady Gaga's latest multi platinum selling "Born This Way" album, fed the near capacity festive audience at the vibing new i-Club located on the roof terrace of The Icon in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, with his venomous mix of poptronica, early this morning. The 25 year old pop deejay who hails from France, was in town yesterday for an exclusive DJ set at the popular urban dance venue that has been drawing in the crowds every week. Over 500 revelers who were still in the Chinese New Year mood, were treated to an eclectic mix of current and classic hits, blended seamlessly with a concoction of hard driven beats, by the lanky Frenchman, who has also produced for Akon and Pitbull. Accompanying him on stage and hyping up the energetic camera pointing crowd into a frenzy, was his French emcee Olivier, and Malaysia's very own DJ MasterBass, while i-Club resident deejay Mike Sanchez who had set the pace earlier, monitored the action on stage, from his console.
Earlier in the night, during a press conference held at the same venue, Snake who speaks passable English remarked, "My English is no so good but my music is very good." It certainly was judging from the party crowd that was lapping up every decibel that was blasting out of the club's powerful speakers. If the massive Dragon head sculptures that adorn i-Club could actually breath fire to the thumping sounds assembled by fellow reptilian, DJ Snake, it would have been quite a toasty affair indeed.
