RESHMONU RULES WITH HIS GLOBAL ART OF MIXING AT H-ARTISTRY PARTY

Hennessy always throws the best parties in town, but unfortunately this installment of the Global Art Of Mixing which was held at Mist Club, in Bangsar, last Saturday, was not one of them. Not that it was bad or anything of the nature, it just did not live up to its usual vibe and sizzle. Some of the glam seems to have gone missing as well, and most of the evening felt a little lacklustre. Even the crowd didn't seem to get as dressed up as usual and many were too busy downing drinks quickly (before the free flow got cut off) without really enjoying the taste of the various mixes, they way it should be appreciated. Thankfully there were a few who added some glitz to the event, including emcee Julie Woon who had on a body hugging stunner of an outfit that had all the men in the house salivating. Also looking fabulous were local TV personality Pamela Chong, and the three gorgeous hopefuls who are in the running for Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 (we can't tell you who they are as it is still a secret). Adding fire to the flame-boyant ladies were award winning local indie rock band Dragon Red, and sexy Moet Hennessy Diageo (MHD) Malaysia's head honcho himself Frederich Noyere.
Arriving at the venue, guests were greeted by the usual compliment of "appetizers" that included our favourite, the music blending station, plus iPad games, a photo booth and the popular cocktail mixing stations, hosted and maned (or should we say woman-ed) by a battalion of pretty promoters. Noticeably mixing this time around was the DJ booth.
Opening the night's proceedings was DJ Fono who did a decent job of warming up the earlybirds with his crowd pleasing session, while urban hero Reshmonu who was up next, raised the tempo with another floor thumping set that got everyone up and grooving to his exhilarating ethno-fusion numbers, but lesser known international headliner DJ Gina Star from Texas, hardly ignited the guests. I guess its a bit hard coming after a cracking live act with a kick ass dhol player in tow. Iconic musical mover and shaker, Reshmonu, certainly embodies the global art of mixing, with his infectious rhythms and refreshing flavas, which is truly a perfect match up for the H-Artistry series.
We didn't stay quite long enough to catch popular deck masters Trimix featuring the thrilling husband and wife team of Droolotte Tasha & Samuel Dan, who are used to getting the crowds into a frenzy. Hopefully, they managed to bring the night to its usually explosive conclusion, with their flavourful mixes.
The other little downer of the night was the drinks tasted watered down. The mixes did not have their usual delicious punch that we normally expect. After all we do enjoy our Hennessy in all its variants and frown when something goes amiss. We suspect someone behind the bar may have been reworking the official formula. Hopefully the folks from MHD, who present all these fabulous parties, will take note of these little indiscretions.
Overall it was still a decent party, and the H-Artistry's Global Art Of Mixing series will always be a crowd puller with everyone jostling to get invites, and we are certainly looking forward to the next one. See you there folks.
