Last year, 8TV surprised everyone and allowed the finalist with the lowest votes to compete against the other 2 in the grand finale, althought they had declared that only 2 will compete in the finale, much earlier. Izham Omar, CEO, of 8TV said it was already pre planned, and said they wanted to do a "kejutan" to the viewers on that night.
Faizal Tahir who was the finalist with the lowest votes before the show commenced, amazed everyone in the studio audience and TV viewers with an outstanding performance which outshone everyone else on stage that night, and had the entire studio audience up off their seats, and cheering for him. It was quite obvious he was the best of the night but unfortunately he was pipped to the grand prize by the eventual winner Suki Low, and managed to finish a close second.
According to Izham, there will be no more such surprise turnarounds this year, and one of the top 3 will definitely be eliminated at the begining of the final show. Only 2 will be allowed to compete for the grand prize this coming Friday 29th February 2007. That means all that preparations by one of the contestants will go to waste and us as paying (voting) viewers will not get to see that person perform. In a way we will not really be getting our money's worth on the Grand Finale as one of the talented top 3 will be dimissed without even having a chance to compete.
I think most will agree that it would be better that all 3 get to fight it out in the finale, as that would truly be grander and more fitting for such a majestic night. It would be a crying shame, especially for us viewers, who make our way to the Grand Finals only to find any one of favourites eliminated without even being given a chance to show us their final deliberations. A real crying shame.
Should you feel that all 3 should be fielded in the final please say so here, as your comments could have a bearing on the Grand Finale. Like wise if you think that it should only be 2, your comments are also equally welcome.
