1st KL Experimental Film & Video Festival 2010 @ The Annexe Gallery, Central Market, Jalan Hang Kasturi , Kuala Lumpur (22 - 24/10/10) & HELP University College (25/10/10)
When: Friday, 22nd October to Sunday, 24th October 2010
Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival 2010 (KLEX), Da Huang Pictures and SA Media are proud to present the 1st Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival 2010 (KLEX). Experimental cinema has regarded as an important art discipline in contemporary art. The organisers hope that KLEX will help create a better picture of experimental cinema, and clear up some misconceptions and confusions about the genre.
KLEX consists of 2 categories: Open Call Programs and Invited Guest Programs. To encourage interaction and exchange between experimental filmmakers and video artists in Asia, especially in South East Asia; and to provide a platform for artists to develop an Asian experimental cinema that is unique in this region, KLEX has invited guest curators from Indonesia, Taiwan and the Philippines to each curate a screening program of works from their countries. As for the Open Call, we have received over 180 works from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, China, Canada, USA and Europe. The KLEX committee, together with a local guest curator has created 3 Open Call Programs out of the 180 submissions.
KLEX hopes that the KL Experimental Film & Video Festival 2010 will serve as a platform for art exchange and education, to provide the Malaysian audience an opportunity to see experimental cinema from all over the world, to learn and to be informed with the development of this contemporary art form.
