"Rojak Sessions" is a series of gigs by a group of talented musicians will be performing during dinner hours at Hard Rock Cafe Penang and the following day at the Lobby Lounge, Hard Rock Hotel Penang.
7pm - 10pm, Saturday, 16 October 2010, at Hard Rock Cafe Penang
12pm - 3pm, Sunday, 17 October 2010, at Hard Rock Hotel Penang
Look out for these musicians!
David Knight:
A singer-songwriter, composer and music producer from California currently traveling and making music in Asia. David has toured the east coast of the US, played shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Malaysia and Singapore. David's performances never fail to leave a melodic scar in anyone's mind. His music brings you straight into a space of sounds and melodies. He is a solo artist with a big sound. Watching David in action is hands down a must-have experience.
Ray Cheong:
Ray Cheong has a voice as true as a bell, as oddly world-weary as a Charlie Chaplin smile, as broken as a heart. The world if we read the rave reviews on this fast emerging singer-songwriter, will fall in love with this unmistakable voice soon enough. Although his "soulful ways" are constantly being associated with big names like John Mayer and Ben Harper of the United States, Ray begs to differ as he feels that he portrays music in a whole different way.
Azmyl Yunor:
One of the hardest gigging Malaysian indie/underground musicians for the past decade, Azmyl Yunor has dabbled in, amongst others, folk rock, punk, free-form instrumentals and experimental noise rock. Having roots in the D.I.Y. punk ethos, he is fiercely independent and all of his solo recordings are released on his own Rapidear label (his earlier obscure cassette home recordings are out of print) and Troubadours. A former street musician, he is known for his strong songwriting and energetic live shows.
Crossing Boundaries:
Consist of "The Professor: Shaneil Ramon "Paul Johns" Devaser - Guitar/Vocals",
"The Cave Dweller: Jeremiah Abraham - Guitar/Vocals"
"The Other Guy: Tristan "Here's Jimmy" Devadason - Bass"
"The Jew: Rashaad Ali - Drums/Percussions".
Crossing Boundaries is a band with an attitude that shines through their music. A cross between Oasis and Stereophonics. Crossing Boundaries is not your ordinary alternative band. With energy as pure as this, there are no reason to miss a Crossing Boundaries show.
Rafique Rashid:
Talk about veteran performers; talk about a show that will chill your spine; talk about serious tunes with a sense of humor; talk about Rafique Rashid, the man with "guts-spilled" lyrics and kick-a** guitar licks. Rafique is known to stun audiences with his crazy one of a kind live shows. Having many unforgettable years of performing and song-writing experience, Rafique is easily one of the best performers around to watch.
