Forever Teresa Teng "A Tribute To The Legend" @ Plenary Hall, KL Convention Centre, Jalan Pinang (04/09/10)

It has been fifteen years since her untimely death. But her songs continue to be heard and enjoyed in places across the world where Chinese live. Teresa Teng, the forever superstar continues to mesmerize her fans with her songs and ballads despite her passing.
To commemorate the 15th anniversary of Teresa Teng’s passing, a philharmonic concert will be held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at 8.00 pm, 4 September 2010.
The nostalgic concert organised by Dynamix Fantasy Events, will bring audience through a time tunnel with the creative use of a philharmonic orchestra accompaniment, special lighting and dances, to once again enjoy the popular songs and ballads of Teresa Teng rendered in different styles respectively by Tong Yao, Wang Jing and Michelle Hsieh, three women singers renowned for their renditions of Teresa’s songs. Tong Yao, famous for her sweet voice and the champion in the Small Town Story Singing Contest of China, will allow you to once again enjoy the familiar voice of Teresa Teng. Wang Jing, a super fan of Teresa Teng and the champion in the World Searching For Teresa’s Successor Singing Contest, is famed for her vivid presentation of Teresa’s songs. Michelle Hsieh aka “Little Teresa Teng of Taiwan” is famous for her delicate, captivating and occasionally plaintive voice.
In addition, the Hebei Song and Dance Theatre of China will present the dance and song accompaniment for the concert, including renditions by erhu player He Yun who is the first and only musician who can render Teresa Teng’s evergreen songs entirely with an musical instrument.
A total of thirty popular and classic songs by Teresa Teng will be presented at the concert, including “The Moon Represents My Heart, Tian Mimi, Little Town Story, I Only Care About You, Untouch The Wild Flowers By Roadside, Rhythm of the Sea, What Do You Have To Say, and many more.
It has been fifteen years since her demise. The familiar Teresa Teng lives on forever in our hearts.
About Teresa Teng
Teresa Teng (29 January 1953 – 8 May 1995) was born in Baojhong, Taiwan, to a mainland Chinese family from Hebei province. She was an immensely popular and influential Chinese pop singer from Taiwan. Teresa Teng's voice and songs are instantly recognized throughout Asia and in areas with large Asian populations since 1980s.
Teresa recorded songs not only in her native Mandarin but also in Japanese and English.
Teresa was known for her folk songs and romantic ballads. Many became standards in her lifetime, such as: "The Moon Represents My Heart", "When Will You Back?", "I Only Care about you", "Wishing We Last Forever".
On 8 May 1995, 43-year old Teresa Teng died from a severe asthma attack while in Thailand. It was not only ordinary Chinese in Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China and Southeast Asia who were saddened by the incident, the media devoted a tremendous amount of stories of her. Many groups bestowed posthumous honors and accolades on Ms Teng. Her death punctuates the end of that era of popular music, and transfer her to the status of a "classic" in the history of Chinese popular culture.
The singer is gone, but her songs live on. She left behind countless grieving fans. Teresa Teng was popular in Chinese societies worldwide for three decades. Even though she has left us, she will always be our "eternal sweetheart".
