Several delegates of Team Australia who were in Kuala Lumpur to compete at the I Am Model Search International 2024 finals, took some time off post-competition to make some charitable contributions to a local charity home as part of their social responsibilities before returning home. The idea to contribute to a local charity organisation was mooted by Mrs Multicultural Global Australia Charity Queen 2023 & IAMS 2024 delegate Evita Maria Barboza Rodriguez and Australian resident Rosmawati Abdul Aziz, the mother of IAMS International 2024 Teen Runner-Up Syafira Maria Hughes, as an act of compassion, kindness and goodwill across nations. With the assistance of Rentak Sejuta's Publisher Anastasia Doping, IQ70 Plus (previously known as Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Terencat Akal Malaysia) was identified and selected as a suitable candidate to receive their sincere contributions.
The visiting party which included Rodriguez, Rosmawati, Hughes, Doping and also IAMS International 2024 Teen 2nd Runner-Up Puteri Nur Batrisyia Amalia Yusri, were met by the home's Vice Chairman Tan Jin Hao, who received their contributions of groceries worth more than RM 1200.00. Rodriguez, an Australian entrepreneur from Perth, who won the Best Personality & Best Social Media subsidiary titles at IAMS International 2024, also contributed RM 500.00 in cash to the home. The visiting party also had the chance to tour the home and spend time with some of its residents, and bring them some cheer and joy, while they were there.
IQ70 Plus is a non-profit organization that takes care of individuals who suffer from intellectual disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, Learning Difficulties, Spastic Paralysis, etc. The home has a total of 70 residents, their ages ranging from 3 to 76. Most of them come from single-parent families or poor families, where their family members cannot take care of these children. IQ70 Plus was established by its founder Chang MingKiet, who was motivated the start the home after the loss of his child. Due to a high fever, his 3-year-old son, Jian An suffered severe brain damage and became paralyzed. At the age of 4, Jian An unfortunately passed away. Chang blamed himself for not fulfilling his responsibility as a good and caring father. He felt extremely sad for the loss of his young boy. This tragedy eventually drove him to establish the home to help those families who were facing similar situations as him. The home was originally named after his first son, Jian An (Malaysia Jian An Association for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children). He wanted to provide a healthy and happy environment for special children in need while sharing his knowledge and experience about how to take care of intellectually disabled children, to the public. The home located at 118, Jalan Gasing in Petaling, accepts suitable candidates who are really in need regardless of age, ethnicity, or religion.
IQ70 Plus is built to serve and help those intellectual disabilities individuals who are really in need. The home takes care of them without incurring any charges or fees. IQ70 Plus relis solely on public donations and support. IQ70 Plus run donation drives, charity concerts, charity dinners, charity bazaars and a lot of other activities regularly to gather funds to cover all the expenses of the home. However, the charity organization is currently facing significant difficulties due to a range of factors. Sadly they have experienced a huge decline in the number of donations they receive. This has been a major challenge for them, as they solely rely on donations to make sure that their residents can receive good care and medical attention. They have also seen a steady drop in visitors to their home.
This has made it difficult for them to raise awareness of their cause and raise sufficient funds for their residents who are mostly children. They have also experienced a decrease in the number of corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships and volunteers. CSR partnerships are crucial for them to raise awareness and engage with more people who may be interested in supporting their organization. Similarly, volunteers play a critical role in helping them achieve their mission, and their contributions are vital for them to carry out their programs.
For online donations, you can donate to Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Jian An Malaysia through AFFIN BANK 101230020047.
